The location is terrific, the rooms are clean and (relatively) large, the breakfast is ample, the aesthetic is bright and fun. But the single biggest selling point here is the staff. Overwhelmingly friendly, courteous, responsive, and genuine. That's how you run a business.
The staff were so helpful, very entertaining, with a great welcome on arrival.
The atmosphere was so comfortable, and informal. Good breakfast and access to kitchen area for coffee, cookies etc.
Great location, and all around - pretty cool. See you again next time in NYC Jay.
The room was small......that's Manhattan! Everything else more than compensated for this though.
The service was impeccable and the staff were extremely friendly; especially Lewis! We were on the top floor in a suite and with no lift we had to walk, it didn't really bother us that much to be honest, It felt like a good bit of exercise after the owners delicious home made cakes!! The whole experience was fantastic and I'd reccomend the Chelsea Pines to anyone. Breakfast and delicious snacks throughout the day were the icing on the cake..!
I received a very warm and friendly welcome from Ana in the Chelsea
Pines Inn, and all the staff there were charming and lovely throughout
my short stay. The location of this Inn is excellent - a few steps away
from an underground station, Chelsea Market and the High Line. Small
touches like complimentary water and printing facilities makes Chelsea
Pines Inn compare favourably to more upscale places I stayed in ny
(where they were charging $8 for a small bottle of water!).
As the price reflects - you will not be staying in a high-end stylish
hotel, but it is a clean, comfortable, pleasant spot with its own style
and I would recommend it.
For New York, it was worth it. The hotel tries really hard. The breakfast was good. The cat was homey.
Staff was helpful, but we had to wait to check in for at least10 minutes because they were chatting with another guest about what to do in the neighborhood, etc.
Good breakfasts and snacks available all day.
Great location very near subway stop and HighLine
Staff couldn't do enough for us
Friendliness and helpfulness from when we first walked in the door.
Clean, well stocked breakfast items with good coffee.
Great sun room and patio to enjoy breakfast.
Incredible location, close to everything
I stayed a week in Chelsea Pines Inn in late September, 2013. It was my
first time in nyc and I'm glad I managed to find such a gem. The
staff are exceptionally kind and friendly. I was very happy with my room
and the breakfast every morning was lovely. The subway is just yards
from the hotel.
Everything was great, no complaints whatsoever.
Extremely friendly and very helpful with directions and places to dine. Treat each guest as an individual. Nothing was a problem.
Great location, helpful and friendly staff, clean, feeling like a home away from home
Walking up 5 flights of stairs to get to our room, but the rest of the experience makes up for it. We are definitely going back.
Excellant location, friendly helpful staff, breakfast quality good.
5 flights of stairs - had we seen that this is a 'walk up' hotel we would have gone elsewhere - after a day (& evening) walking around the sights we could have done without the 100+ stairs upto our room.
Friendly atmosphere, good service and excellent complimentary breakfast in their own garden! Brilliant location close to the subway on 14th street.
Small rooms with limited storage facilities. Why not add some hooks on the wall?
The staff was more than helpful. On our last morning, when running to the car to grab something, realized it had been towed!! The front desk helped calm us down, while providing instructions and directions on how to find our car. Kept our room for us until we were able to get it and return. The room was extra spacious and comfortable. The largest room we have stayed in, in the city so far. The location is a very easy walk to Greenwich Village for bars or food. Plenty to do right around the hotel, just a very short walk to the highline. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, I know we will be staying there again for sure.
Pretty much everything
A couple of times in the four days dirty cups and towels were not removed from the room and coffee and milk were not replaced
The location was great and the staff were very friendly and really took
care of you. The included breakfast was lovely and it was nice to have
snacks available throughout the day.
Jays baked goodies
Climbing the last flight of stairs
Location, amenities, service.
Well appointed rooms
excellent service, friendly, helpful, staff.
Great location right near subway
Everything!! great location, helpful staff, amazing breakfast, clean and quiet.
Nothing, couldn't fault it, great place!
Great area to be in for eating and drinking.
4 flights of stairs to the room. Check which level and how old you are as the 5th floor was a workout. Room was compact but everything was there.
Location, near meatpacking district, shopping, restaurants, subway, Hudson river, highline. Breakfast was awesome! Jay,Al,and Troy ensure that you have a good time and they will answer any question that you may have. The employees are all awesome!
The staff was INCREDIBLE (knowledgable, helpful, warm, funny), the decor was lovely with great attention to detail, the location cannot be beat - walking distance to 3 different subway stations and steps from Chelsea Market, the Meat Packing District, and the East Village.
Not a thing!
Guests should be warned that there is no elevator. Stairs are steep and uncarpeted--a little rough for seniors!
Everything, rooms, staff, location, breakfast, coffee bar, outdoor patio area
Great location, very attentive staff.
Loved the location and size of the hotel. Staff was awesome.
Ideal location for NYC. Close to great restaurants, high-end clothes stores, the subway, galleries and the Highline. Breakfast at the CPI is of a superior quality. Staff are great.
Stairs but it is what it is.
We liked the staff, the location, the friendliness, the professionalism of the staff, the help and advice, in fact we liked everything about this hotel. It is in our view an absolute gem. Its also very well located and its quiet at night. We had a great stay and will use Chelsea Pines again.
- Amazing breakfast which can be eaten in a beautiful outdoor courtyard
- Friendly + helpful staff
- Well decorated rooms with nice personal touches eg. fresh flowers, spacious bathrooms
- Wifi in all areas
- Excellent location- close to all the eateries in the Meatpacking district, unique shoppping in Greenwich Village, Chelsea Markets, highline, subway station with multiple lines only a few metres from the door.
Air conditioning didn't work terribly well
Good breakfast and snacks all day included in room price. Helpful staff. Great location near Chelsea Market and the Highline. Very welcoming.
Snug shower cubicle.
CPI welcomes you the moment you arrive and makes you feel special. Jay and the team are always courteous and obliging. The decor and movie posters are terrific. I enjoyed the quick and tasty breakfast each morning and the central location. Only 100 yards from subway ... What more would you want!
Staff was very attentive. Room was extremely comfortable, and breakfast buffet was fantastic! Hope to stay there again soon.
No elevators, but we knew that ahead of time. Walking up and down stairs was probably good for us!
breakfast until 11.30

suggestions for your stay
1.Wonderfyl, friendly, helpful staff!
2.Quirky room layout making clever use of an old building. Themed rooms.
3.Location is excellent. Great neighbourhood.
4. Boutique-style hotel.
1.Lack of towel hanging in bathroom (203).
2.Lack of coffee making in other ooms we used (206? & 105).
Everything, the staff is fantastic! Breakfast and location are perfect
Cozy rooms, friendly staff, great location.
Unstable wifi in my room.
This was the friendliest and most pleasant place I have stayed in NYC. Staff was delightful; the decor charming; and so many small touches made our stay a pleasure.
The only downside is the lack of an elevator -- not a problem for us; but it could be for some.
Great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful owner Jay and staff and in excellent location. Wonderful breakfasts! Spotlessly clean.
Some might have felt a lift would have been good but it didn't bother us at all.
From the moment we arrived to the time we left we felt at home.Really friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent position for visiting New York.
Can walk anywhere from here. Will come again.
Clean room, comfortable services, near from subway station. Then near from Chelsea market, I could enjoy eating and shopping.
Taking walk 15 min, there are art gallery districtions. So nice.
Loved the decor in the bathroom. Nice , spacious shower . Bed very comfortable. Also loved the kitchenette area which leads to a sunroom, and then garden area. All spaces have cafe tables. Staff friendly and helpful.
The staff were uniformly excellent providing a personal touch and did everything they could to help. The proprietors provided very useful information on places to visit and eat in New York. The hotel is quirky with a unique personality which was great to see. The location is great.
I have no complaints in any way.
Wonderful continental breakfast provided. The very knowlegable staff provides tips for activities and getting around the city. The friendliest place I have stayed. It has a home away from home feeling.
The breakfast, the rooms - all of it!
The location is excellent for trips uptown and downtown as the subway is just a few steps away.
Wonderfully helpful staff too.
An excellent location, terrific staff, comfortable and clean rooms, very pleasant experience.
Very friendly staff Nice breakfast
