We had to leave for Canada after a one night stay and he helpfully offered to safekeep our luggages for 3 days as we were returning to the hotel for another stay. When the smoke detector in a neighbour's room started beeping as the battery had run out (can happen) they were quick to replace it, so there was no more a loud noise coming from it. Free WiFi!

  This hotel is in Chinatown and located only a few doors down from directly under the Manhattan bridge. Sounds terrible but it's not. We were on a budget and this hotel was perfect. The metro is a 5 min walk away taking you to time square within 20mins or less. The room was large, clean and recently refurbished. The beds - I though the hotel was very clean, especially the rooms. The location was good, train stations were 3-4 blocks away which made getting around town easy. The neighborhood (Chinatown), although dirty was safe. Staff was friendly and tentative for the most part. The rooms, for being nyc were good size. There was not porter fee to pay for as a group booking.
