The ambience at Middle Ruddings is excellent. The staff have a laid back easy going efficiency and pay much attention to detail;nothing was too much trouble. A most charming inn set in a beautiful location overlooking Skiddaw. The staff were exceptionally friendly and as for the food - what can we say but 5 Star with emphasis on top quality local produce cooked with flair and presented with style. The breakfasts were exceptional especially the smoked haddock. I thought everything about the hotel was good. It was quiet and the room was spacious clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Breakfast similarly provided all that was required to start a day. A good choice of cereal, cooked food or cold food if preferred with a range of drinks to suit all. Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

Great location, good breakfast and very nice clean room. Room about to be renovated (Rydal Suite) which will make it even better. We hadn't stayed in a B and B before but this was one of the most wonderful experiences from start to end. Ethna welcomed us very warmly and made us feel at home throughout our whole stay. Ethna is very friendly, with a lovely sense of humour as well as being very knowledgeable and helpful about the breath-taking surrounding area.

The property was convenient and clean. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. The view along the park and river is beautiful. We loved it and would definitely suggest the place to others. We parked right along the road by the hostel. -

Very quiet and adequate. Beds clean and comfy. A lovely old house full of character which had a nice feel about it but very tired and dated. No problem with that as price was fair. Decorators were coming in as we were leaving so hotel is making effort. Wi-Fi very fast and reliable. This old building must be expensive to upkeep. -

Good family-run hotel. Owner stayed up to open the door with a smile for us even though we were running late and reached only at 10pm. Next morning, his staff said if you want anything to eat that they don't serve, she'd go and buy for the future breakfast. WOW.
Location is great and room is clean. TV is antique, really cool.
