The 23 Mayfield was a total delight! The staff was amazing - everyone seemed like genuinely nice people and happy to help. The hotel owner even gave us an excellent advice what to do and see further in Scotland and let us leave our car in their not so big car park even thought we stayed for only one night. Ross was a very welcoming and relaxed host. He provided us with some good recommendation for locations to visit whilst in Scotland. Breakfast was a gourmet experience with a great range for vegetarians (i had the Campbell's vegetarian haggis both mornings). Room was tastefully decorated and a good size. We enjoyed a cold beer in the oudoor room, which was just what we needed after a full days travel.

we liked everything. We arrived on Fri 10th May and were made very welcome by Angela. Shown to our lovely room, offered coffee and Angela gave us lot's of information on places to go, eat etc. It was great not having to use the car for 3 days as the bus stop not far and took us into Edinburgh. We chose this because we don't like to be in the center of the big towns we visit. Even if it is a little bit far from the Edinburgh centre, the bus connection is excellent and at a few steps from the house. The Portobello beach is also close, a stunning place, really worth a visit.
Loved the host, very nice lady and very pleasant. Loved the stories she told me about the house. Very good recommendations also.

Rooms and public area renovated or kept in excellent shape with new furnishings; beautifully decorated. Host Bill friendly and helpful. Good Wifi. Instant coffee powder and milk generously supplied and replenished. In easy reach of centre, with necessities shopping, pubs and eateries nearby. Sufficient public parking space, bus stop a few meters away. Not exactly cheap in overall terms, but good value for Edinburgh (sigh).

Frequentbuses take you in less than 15 minutes to city center. A walk is alsofun with shops and cafes along the way. - The owners were very freindly and helpful. The rooms were great and the breakfast delicious. The location for us was ideal as it is close to the student accomodation whaer our daughter is - but with very frequent busses it is only 5 minuits to Princes street, or a 20-25 minute walk.

Excellent facilities in large traditional Edinburgh house, central
situation with easy access to town centre and attractions. Very
reasonably priced for facilities and the fact that it was a Rugby
Weekend which usually incurs doubling the price by many other Hotels and
Guest Houses. Whilst the guest house doesn't do breakfasts there are
good facilities nearbye, although for this particular weekend the host
cooked all guests who were visiting for the rugby a great breakfast on
both mornings in h

The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. When I had three hours to wait until I could check into my next hotel, Margaret let me stay a bit late in my room.
