Evening dinner at the hotel was delicious. Beautifully presented, and a wide variety of food and well thought out meals. Just lovely. I am sure my mother and I gained 5 kilos, but it was worth it. Excellent hotel. Booked it from the reviews on line and I can't praise the hotel and staff enough. We paid a little extra for a room overlooking the lake and the view was well worth it. Great location, around the corner from the lakefront promenade with its luxury hotels, including the 150 year old Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees, of Hemingway (A Farewell to Arms) fame. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Giuseppe, who greeted us on arrival and daily with a warm smile and two-handed handshake. A short walk to everything, downtown shopping and restaurants and the ferries to the islands in the lake. Generous breakfast buffet with home-baked cakes and pastries.

Beautiful view over Lake Como. The hotel room was well appointed and had
a spectacular view up and down the Lake. The food and staff in the
restaurant were of a high standard and very helpful. Front desk staff
even drove us around when it started to rain. Room 13,14 &15 have
the best views and a balcony to watch the boats from. -

This is a beautiful hotel:an art gallery on every floor, mosaic, marble,marquetry,statues and fountains. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake is a wonderful start to each day. Excellent food and service and very comfortable room.

The hotel has an excellent location and service. The staff are very professional and friendly and they all speak English and very helpful. The view of the lake and the gardens around the hotel is very impressive and beautiful and the facilities of the hotel are very good. The internet access was provided without charge.

It was a treat to stay at the Hotel Astoria for 5 nights after a hectic 18 day self drive tour of Spain.
The rooms were clean and well presented, the staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of car parking space and a nice large pool swimming pool.
The floral arrangements in the lounges were superb.
No hesitattion in recommending this hotel.

This hotel was awesome. We were to have stayed 2 days and stayed 5. Beautiful view of Lake Maggiorie from room. Breakfast was awesome. Fresh fruit from the garden to include fragolina grapes and figs. Had a wonderful relaxing time. The hotel, which is clean, modern, comfortable and well-equipped, is about 4km from Stresa with a magnificent view over Lake Maggiore. The hotel staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful. I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay there in relaxing and peaceful surroundings.

To call it 'basic' would be an injustice - its a simple place, exactly how hotels used to be, without the modern frills that many hotels now offer (eg aircon, fridge). What it does offer is: charming and helpful family owners, great location (just 3mins walk off the lake-shore) on a quiet lane, simple accommodation, balcony overlooking quiet leafy gardens. Lovely hotel, great value for money, definitely recommended

Very comfortable hotel and good location being just a few minutes walk from the lake and in the old part of the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were large and clean(we were fortunate to have been allocated a room with a balcony). The breakfast buffet was extensive, including fresh fruit (not just tinned). First of all this is a very beautiful old villa with wooden floor and ceiling, old nice decoration incide, with a very nice garden with roses and very friendly staff. Consider lake view rooms to get wonderful view of Maggiore and more comfort with trains passing by behind hotel (we didn't notice them to stop going even late at night).
