Jakarta Hotele

The long-term guest below must have been unlucky with all his problems. We stayed two nights, and everything was working fine. OK, the TV was a bit old and grainy, but remember you're not paying Sheraton prices to live here. Breakfast was smallish, nothing much to write home about. If I had to pay extra for that I'd opt out. But staff is helpful, security impressive, we made good use of the washer/dryer, and enjoyed the spacious apartment. I guess due to the economic downturn the shops in t - Carole

I and my wife stayed for two nights at this Intercontinental property while visiting Jakarta. I must say it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay. From check-in to check-out the staff was always courteous and nice. We had a high floor room, and we were upgraded to deluze room for free. The room was very new and clean, the bed was comfortable and the LCD 42" tv nice! The bathroom was big and new, with a lot of amenities including slippers and bathrobe. We chose this hotel because of the previous reviews that we had read. We were not disappointed! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are lovely and have a good range of facilities. My husband liked the fitness room on one of the lower floors, he described it as being well equipped. The buffet breakfast was super - a full range of everything! Sit on the balcolny as it gives you a really good view of the lower floor of the hotel. The staff are very friendly and will do anything for you, ask them to r - Roger

I liked this place. The rooms were big and dark with the curtains drawn (very important after a long flight). The lobby was nice and the service was good. There is a small swimming pool, lots of taxis waiting to take you elsewhere and the Ambassador Shopping Mall nearby. I couldn't help but feel that there were hotels closer to the action - you can't really take a walk from this place, it's on a main road. But cabs are so cheap you just zip over to where you need to go. Unless I got better ad - Graeme

Located close to the business district the Shangri-La is an oasis among Jakarta's chaotic traffic. Rooms are very spacious with all amenities you expect in an hotel of this category (however TV sets should be upgraded to flat-panels). Decoration is sober and elegant. Staff is extremely helpful and efficient, most of it speaking pretty good English. The buffet on the second floor offers an amazing variety of food both for breakfast and dinner. This hotel was recommended by my Indonesian friend. What an excellent choice! We stayed at their Executives Suites, we booked two suites as I brought my whole family for our yearly shopping trip. The rooms are very cozy, clean and so conformtable until you do not feel that you want to go out! There's a kitchen, dining table and a living room with sofas and TV. Two bedrooms with two bathrooms - all in excellent condition. All their staff are very friendly and they smile all the time. Will definit - Rona

I stayed at grandkemang hotel for 3 nights and left for Bali, then come back to stay for another 2 nights before flying home to US. The first 3 nights, I got a deluxe room in the old side of the building. The room is huge, very spacious, but kind of run down. But I didn't have a problem, I like the space, and having friends over to hang out in the room after clubbing. All the staff are very friendly and nice, very accomodating. My husband and I, accompanied by our 13 year old son stayed at the Aston Rasuna Apartment block. What can I say, I thought it was fantastic value for money. The apartment was very nice, it was clean and also well stocked. We had a two bedroom apartment, with kitchen/diner and living area. There was also an outside balconey and another room which held the washing machine. The security was fantastic and made us feel very secure (even if it was a little bit over the top).
