Friendly, caring and helpful family. The son Suraj made an excellent guide who was full of knowledge and took us to some of the hidden treasures around the city. Whole family extremely helpful with booking other travel needs and a trip to the doctors. Mother cooks delicious food. Airport transfers easy. Amazing view! Definitely recommend.

Very friendly staff, very helpful to help me negotiate the city. A nice peaceful atmosphere, right in the middle of the craziness of the old city. Good facilities and good value for money. Very close walk to the main Burning Ghat.
I was pleased to be picked up by a family member from the airport ( Private taxi 700 rupees) as the guest house is very much in the centre of the maze of alleys in Varanasi which initially did seem daunting. After a walk around it quickly became less of a problem to find your bearings. Use the river as a point of reference. The guest house is well managed with basic amenities typical of most budget accommodation in India. The owners are pleased to help with any information needed. There are rooms en-suite but shared facilities isn't an issue. The rooms are very basic with hot water on demand most of the day. Great views over the river from the roof.

Very friendly hosts - Prabhu and his family, including son Suraj, in whose honor and named the guesthouse. If you have any questions you can contact the owner, is always ready to help or suggest :)) about the roof - perfect Spending evenings can be one, you can host, very sincerely all.
A very nice little Suraj Guest house very close to the River (about 5 minutes walk). The staff is so nice and helpfull, especially the son and father. Very clean. Didint see any insects in the room. If I'm ever going back to Varanasi, this is where I would stay good luck

First impressions last and mine of India is the unending hospitality I received from the Singh family during my stay at the Suraj Guest House. I would not hesitate to recommend a long or short stay to anyone visiting varanasi. This place . I like this hostel location and people they are very friendly in this house , food was yummy . I was stay here couple of days only and Really like to stay here more , River and golden temple is close to this place , I wanna Reccoment this place to my friends , Price was very cheap , perfect place for backpackers .

This is a great little place to stay in Varanasi. The family running this guesthouse are friendly and helpful. The location is good not more than a 5 minute walk to the River. I will stay here again on my way back through Varanasi.

I was expecting the worst when I saw the noisy street and the dark ground floor, but when he to us up to our room I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was the cleanest budget hotel we saw in 2 weeks, the bathroom was fairly clean, though as usual could be better, the room had a heater which was a huge perk since we were there in January (turns out we didn't need it as the room was amazingly warm enough), the bed was really comfortable... I could go on. I think this place was the best value for the higher end of budget accommodation. The rooftop has a nice atmosphere and the food was excellent. It is only a 2 minute walk to the River. I would ask for a higher floor corner room. I would recommend here, definitely.

We first arrived in India and Varanasi was our first stop. We were really scared about the big big city! But at the guest the nephew of the owner showed us around varanasi for 4 days, he was really helpful and really kind his name was gaurauv (goro) The water was running and the bathroom was clean and simple. the guest house staff was really friendly, like a family. About the cleaning.. It was backpack friendly nothing fancy but good for backpackers like us MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET A PICK UP! It is really really difficult to find by yourself
If we had to find the guest house by ourself we probably get lost and lost all over again.. It is really difficult to find. The power went of sometimes but that is just Indian.

Very friendly and helpfull owners. The boy from the guesthouse can also act as a guide. Location: few meters away from the Ganga river and the main burning ghat.
Location: Impossible to find by yourself, so you need a pickup. Old Varanasi is probably the most dirty place of India. Shared bathroom is dirty and the owners keep swithing off the heater for hot water. We booked a room with own bathroom, but this was not available. High room rate (it is a guesthouse, not a hotel) Music show in the evening for non-guests.

The room tariff was too high for a room like this. I mean room with A.C. My room was out of water during my stay and I had to use a bucket to wash myself for the first time in my life. Room was not very clean and small. And DON'T hire the guy with curly hair who claims to be a staff of this hotel as a guide. He charged us 900 rupees which was too high for a half-day tour and trust me, the tour was terrible and he was very impatient and rude.
Pickupservice from airport foor 600 r, nice family like gasthouse. (Devoted people at the small Hanuman mandir next to the house (the only people who did really puja for God morning and evening and never asked money). Alto Varanasi very busy and loud this please was rather quiet and nice to go on the roof of the apartment. The staff was nice to talk and explain and helped with everything we need (like booking train tickets).
Not clean, sheets and blankets very dirty! Room no windows so rather dark. Cooking times and when possible to order is not very clear, and also long waiting for delivering. Only two shared toilets/bad-rooms but often busy and the warm water works not always. Also they are very dirty. (Also water was often not there but that is more problem of Varanasi).

It's very difiicult to find this hotel yourself, and too fer from road, walk by foot without bike and car takes about 15 minutes and it's very hard with luggage. The view from roof is poor, not on the first line
