We rebooked this hotel for our second stay in Santiago as it is in a good location, is good value for money and has good facilities. Most of the staff were really helpful and friendly, and when we arrived we were given maps of Santiago and information about free tours. There were sufficient shared bathrooms and the roof terrace was great. Good breakfast and good location (just close to mercardo central). Good location. Clean and comfortable room (we had double with shared bathroom). Comfortable matresses. Clean bathrooms. Great location close to many attractions. Hot showers and comfortable beds with friendly helpful staff. The hotel is situated in a very nice house in the center of Santiago. Great view from the roof. On our first visit a member of staff knocked on our door 45 minutes before check out and demanded that we paid then, rather than when we checked out which I thought was very odd. The bunkbeds were really high and had no ladder... On our second stay we were in a room that overlooked a big cross junction which was very noisy - recommend you ask for a room that doesn't overlook the road as the first time we stayed we overlooked an internal courtyeard and it was fine. Bathrooms could be a bit cleaner, there was not always toilet paper. Poor breakfast. Reception and rooms are on the 3rd floor and there are no lift in the building. I had a single room which was far too expensive; the room in itself was not really warming (absolutely no decoration) and, even with the windows closed, the noise was barely acceptable. Nevertheless, I had a quick look in the dorms which seemed nicer. Room poorly decorated. The blinds in the bathroom were broken and the window could not be closed... When the room opens on a huge avenue, the room is noisy. Staff were not overly friendly as we did not speak spanish. The shower upstairs was tiny with the most filthy bath mats... Wear thongs in the shower! Although location is central, down San Antonio road is the red light district. Sharing a bathroom, but that is the price I pay for such a cheap price. Ill-mannered, disinterested staff (no greetings when you walk in, waiting forever to be buzzed in and out at the front door, no information forthcoming about anything), the web-page makes the place far more glamorous than it is. no hot water in bathrooms on top floor, poky shower rooms/ loos, breakfasts poor, no hooks or space to put anuthing in rooms.
