First experience of a hostel and it was excellent. Helpful staff, extrememly clean and well kept, fruit, cereal and bagels provided for breakfast with microwave and cooker should you wish to purchase anything for yourself, basic room but perfect as base for exploring Chicago. 5 to 10 mins walk to John Hancock Centre and oak street beach and explored a great deal of Chicago by foot. Hope to stay again sometime.
alle vurderinger » I liked the location in terms of being able to walk or easily take public transportation to the heart of the city as well as the immediate area, 6 bed dorm room and nice bathroom, helpful staff (gave out good local map to all hostelers), general cleanliness, and "complimentary breakfast all day", which included tea, coffee, fruit, bagels and cream cheese as a plus. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was surprised by how nice the whole place was, as well as how clean and well kept everything was. Oak 112 is located great for downtown business or sight seeing. Overall, a great place to stay in the city, especially if you're trying to save a bit of money. Loved the location, design of the space, free breakfast with kitchen, free parking on site was a huge deal for me, & great for the budget traveler. I came with my 5 year old daughter who just loved the bunk beds! It was also very clean & quiet, & friendly staff. I liked the location: it's a very nice area of Chicago and it's close to many of its touristic attractions at a walking distance. The price is also very convenient, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. It's perfect for young people who don't care about luxuries. Oak 112 was easy to find, FREE PARKING was a huge plus, staff was very friendly and helpful, it had a lot of character and was kept clean. Loved the simplicity and value of the place, without sacrificing too much comfort. So great for traveling with college age children. Very nice and helpfull staff. Nice breakfast. Breakfast facilities were fine except all the milk in two jugs was off on the second night Nice other hostel users and staff was friendly. Modern clean and friendly the staff are helpful and laid back which makes for a good atmosphere. The breakfast choices- it would be better to offer at least one non sugary cereal, such as Wheatabix. The wifi strength is weaker on the top floor. The only thing I can think of that personally I didn't care for was the plug in air freshener in the room. I'm sensitive to chemicals/strong scents so it was a bit overpowering, but I fixed it easily by unplugging it & opening the window. Other than that, everything was comfortable, including the bunk bed & the bedding. Great place- coming back again soon!. Although I knew I had a shared bathroom, there was only one shower in two floors. This is not very convenient, but I would still recommend this hostel. I expected the room to be just a bit bigger, but it was just fine with us because all we needed was a place to sleep for a few hours. We stayed in a private quad room with our own bathroom. The hotel asked if we wanted 2 single beds and 2 double beds, or 4 single beds. We requested the first, but got the latter. better water pressure would have been nice. Loud air-conditioning. Shared bathroom/toilet was inconvenient when unable to use toilet due to someone using shower and no indicator to show occupied. Rooms were much smaller than depicted in the picture. No furniture or storage in room. Nothing. Gave our booked private ensuite to somebody else..did refund a portion of the cost, but would not have stayed here if I knew that would not have had a private bathroom. Missing blind in girls dorm. Small cramped rooms - poorly furnished. I've seen other hostels manage their space and furnishings much better. Double beds on bunks that squeaked loudly with every movement. Very frustrating. Our room was a little small and breakfast is basic but you can pretty much help yourself to drinks, cereal, fruit and bagels when ever you like, so you can't knock that!.
