We spent just one night at the Hostal Macarena, when passing Madrid on our way back from holiday. It's a lovely place in the heart of Madrid (Plaza Mayor is just behind the corner!), surrounded by many bars, restaurants and little stores. The room is quite small, but well equipped and clean. Staff doesn't speak very good English, but is very nice.

Location, location, location! Two steps from the plaza Mayor and many other attractions, located on a little street with animation. Staff is courteous and helpful. They kept our luggage all day so we could walk around freely untill we left to take the train. Room was clean, confortable and big enough. Very good quality for the price. I recommend this hotel wihtout any hesitation.

The staff were super nice. Breakfast was till 11am (super late compared to other places) and was simple but fresh and delicious. The room was more than we had hoped for. We asked for a room with a balcony and thats exactly what we got. Great location and just a really nice place to come to at the end of a long day sightseeing.

The location is perfect (close to main squares and public transportation). Staff is very friendly. Rooms are always clean. Single rooms are very small but if you are looking for just place to sleep, perfect for money vs. quality,service,comfort and location. Easy transportation possibilities from the airport (one bus and 4 metro stops).

Rooms were small but cosy, and with plenty of space to put your luggage/stuff, big tables (if you want to use your laptop etc), minifridge. Several times stayed earlier in Hostal Sotileza:
1. Very friendly staff.
2. Very clean.
3. Reliable wi-fi in the rooms
4. Position: close to many historical sights - Sol, Real palace etc.;
Direct commuter trains from Sol to Chamartin and Atocha stations as well as to El Escorial. On the way from/to Barajas airport it's better to make change at Nuevos Ministerios station.
