Er were well taken care of, and the staff was very friendly and helpfull. The room was cleaned every morning and new towels were also changed every day.
The bed was unfortunately very noisy every time you moved.
This pension was very cozy and good. The location was great, 4 minutes to the tram and maybe 10 minutes (walking) to the beach. The staff was very friendly (a bit "bad" at English, but we understood each other).
Great location close to tons of action and great spots for eating/shopping. Very near La Rambla, as well as the beach. Great for a one or two night stay, when traveling light.
Hotel does not have a lift, and hotel reception is located up a few flights of stairs. Not recommended if you have a large amount of luggage. Room did not have air conditioning.

great location, price, i would stay here again by myself but not with a companion or family, Lily was a nice and friendly staff member, I loved the location and being able to walk to the beach in about 15 minutes, and different areas like the cathedral and las ramblas and port vell maybe 20 to 30 minutes walk.
walkup of about 5 or 6 floors, shower water was cold a couple times, room very small but can't complain too much because of price and location..
I love this hotel, it's simpel and clean ! I think it's the 5th time that I stayed here, and I'm always very happy here. Not all of the personel speaks english - I think that's just also the charm, you're in Catalunya... not in England- but they are always very helpfull and friendly. Location is great, and the price quality is very good I think. Will definitly return ! Good internet connection.

I needed an economical place to stay for a 15 hour layover in Barcelona. I also wanted to be fairly close to everthing so I could take one last look before leaving Spain. The Pension Francia room was perfect: spacious and clean with good amenities at an excellent price. I even had a nice balcony with a vew of the Cafe Xixi and the pretty passageway. The location is great as it is walking distance to Port Vell, Barceloneta Beach, Barcelona Cathedral. Barcelona Zoo, El Born, Bari Gotic, Musee Picasso, Parc de la Ciutadella, Estacion Franca, Palau de la Musical Catalana, Aire de Barcelona (wonderful Arab Bath place) etc. Because I am familiar with Barcelona I was able to easily walk from Placa Catalunya where the Airport Bus drops off to Pension Francia; This may be difficult for someone unfamiliar with the city or anyone with a lot of luggage (take a taxi in these cases!) The gentleman at the desk was very fast at getting me checked in. He was also very kind and helped me with my bag when he showed me to my room. I left my heavy bags in the left luggagge facility at BCN Airport Terminal T1 so I wouldn't have to haul the bags with me. I loved staying at Pension Francia because it was economical, pleasant, easy, convenient and well located.
If I had been foolish enough to bring my heavy bags I would have hated hauling the bag up the stairway. If you stay at Pension Francia or any other Pension in the old part of the city, I would not recommend bringing a lot of luggage as most buildings do not have lifts. Other than the lack of lift, Pension Francia is a great place to stay!
The location is great, we arrived at the Francia train station and it was just a 5 minute walk from there to the hotel. The area is beautiful, you will feel you are in real Barcelona in no time, the place is surrounded by small shops and coffee shops. As the pension is on some floors of the house, and on other levels there are just normal flats, we did not feel very touristy. There is no elevator (5th floor?), which was with the amount of luggage we had ok. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed there two nights. The room had its own sink and shower. It was not a luxury room, but therefore it was a very good price for Bareclonas high season.
Perfect location, right next to the Barceloneta metro stop, 10 minutes from Rambla.
For this price don`t expect high class service. The hotel is small, dark and old. The rooms are tiny and untidy.
Hostel Francia is located some minutes walk from the porto and 10 min walk from Rambla. It' s very economic hostel but it's quite clean especially the shared bathroom.
The room is very little, the bad quite old and the mattress very loud. The room door is very thin so you will hear every people's whisper or every steps in the corridor. the sheets were very thin and during the night tossing and turning frequently took off from the mattress, not so clean

staff very pleasant, especially the night gentleman, no english but a gentleman definitely, fetching a chair for my mother to break the journey upstairs. Room tidied daily
seven flights of stairs, no lift and an elderly family member-not so good. Room very tired, mould in shower, no plugs for sink or bath, no bedside lights, tiles missing in stairway, light over mirror didnt work. Mattresses hard, old and when asked to be changed an equally old one used to replace it. Towels very thin, Coffee machine emptied and unusable in the evenings.

The location is near to ONE of Barcelona's Renfe stations. Not the one we needed. Near city center. Staff helped us get up the 7 flights of stairs with our luggage.

Tv not working. But he repaired. No lift Shabby Unclean and smelled bleach all night. Towels were dirty l think not renewed from previous occupant. Cushions stained. Bed old and shabby Toilet locks falling off. Toilet itself was loose so bit shaken to sit on. Expensive at £50 for one night. Whole place neglected. No soap provided. Very stingey not to provide basic things like small bar soap. Will never go there again.

Location is close to bus and metro stop.
1. Room was really really small (wasn't similar to what I saw in the website before booking), it was in sixth floor and there was no elevator in the hotel. 2. Bed was seriously uncomfortable, I asked for an extra pillow (as they only gave us one large pillow), but they couldn't evet manage it (hotel with no extra pillow!!!!). 3. There were three dirty blankets and we couldn't use those at night.
The people that worked there were horrible, they were rude to us, refused to give extra blankets, the heating didn't work and it was freezing. There is a bar outside with noisy people and we found it hard to sleep at night. Our last morning they had construction work going from 7.30am in the morning. We were very unhappy and explained this to them about the overall stay, they refused to do anything about it and wouldn't offer any compensation. Would not reccommend this place to anyone.
