  The hotel was warm and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The food in hotel dining room was amazing.   It was the perfect place to be used as base for exploring Svalbard: cozy, warm, nice staff, clean, excellent breakfast, gourmet restaurant, with a great view over Longyearbyen...for sure, a great hotel at 1000 km from NorthPole - The best choice in Longyearbyen.   Nice that guest from Spitsbergen Guesthouse can use the Workout room inkluding, massage chair, sauna, shower room, solarium , get a coup coffe or tea and sit in the lobby at Spitbergen Hotel. I did also use the PC for free. - I arrived at about 7.45pm and just caught the reception staff before they left for the night. She was very friendly and he... hva folk sier » lpful. The room was a reasonable size and very clean, the bathrooms were also very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and clean and tidy. I caught the 3am bus to the airport which stopped right outside the guesthouse. - Staff were very helpful and obliging, especially when I mixed up a plane reservation - they contacted sas for me & found a room @ the busy Guesthouse for another night - great service with a smile! The facilities are older and are well-maintained and clean. I would prefer staying at the Guesthouse as it is part of the history of the area.
