The location is fantastic (I lived in shanghai before and it is for me the best district in terms of charms, local designers' shops and underground bars) And it is very central. The staff was very nice apart from the reception desk (blasé) but it can become a game to try to make them smile... They would need to relax a bit and be more friendly. In swimming pool you need to have a swimming cap or buy one from them (50 yuan) which is equal to pay for pool use. English of front staff is rather poor but this is common problem in whole Shanghai. There was no wi-fi in room. Near hotel it was difficult to find some good food in normal price. We wanted to eat chineese food, but it's hard to find it in the centre of Shanghai. The window is overlooking into windows of the opposite block. Staff should be even more fluent in english and more cheerful. A smile would be appreciated sometimes. they took deposit more then real room expence, it took more then 10 days to return the deposit-money back to visa card... it is a better solutio to pay cash ! at the end we had to pay approximately 10% more then they offered on the internet, internet-connection was weak and there was no wireless connection in room,. There were two of us travelling together and we had not been advised how small a room was, we were unable to upgrade as all the rooms were booked. The room was a bit small. Noise from street. Would prefer a safe box in the room rather than behind the reception desk where it needed to be fetched by staff. We left at the concierge our luggage for a few days, since they are doing some renovations, one of our luggage got soaked with water, and all the content (clothes and such) got wet and ruined. They promised to wash everything for free, but only let the clothes dry out and give them back still stained. No wifi. My room preference wasn't honoured - got a twin smoking room in the annex whereas I requested double non- smoking room in the main building. Reception staff was a bit snotty. The fact that they are marketing a single room as a double although it barely fits two people. Bed is a queen at most. All items such as i.e. slippers, towels, soap etc came for one person only. But all in all I guess it was ok for the price. they are reparing the main villa, where i thought my room was to be, the affiliatied villa dont worth the price. 15%Taxes not included in the price. They were working with heavy duty drills from 9 to 11 in the morning and 3 to 5 in the afternoon. water pression in 7floor isn't enough。 It need long time to full water for toilet. It's too expensive for its value. I had booked the guesthouse but staff talked me right away into taking Donghu Hotel instead which was much more expensive. Its rather an old style hotel. The pictures advertised on your site for this hotel are completely misleading. The graceful old colonial guest house shown on the site does not form part of the hotel at all. It is utilized as a venue for massages, while the hotel itself is a tall, ugly conglomerate of rooms coming off dark & dingy corridors. staff is not very friendly as you may expect from a professinal staff. No wifi in room and Internet rate different to what I was actually charged when I paid at the hotel. The room smell of smoke and the bed was horrible also the elevator did not go up to our floor. We checked out the next day. Photos on your website need to be updated.
