Javiera, from the hostel made my stay so pleasant and comfortable. She was a life savior and to me when you are abroad with limited resources it makes a big difference. Talk to them before you start your tours but it helps to compare with other your agencies. Don't go by the rates some offer better services than other. But, La Ruca was a very nice place, clean and friendly. I will definetly recommend it.
alle vurderinger » Very conveniently located near the main street. Nice friendly people, but our problem was our complete lack of any Spanish. The main receptionist spoke good English, but if out of main office hours it was a struggle for us. That is our problem really. The rooms were clean but simple. The WiFi worked well. A nice simple breakfast. Loved the location. Very near to center of town but at the end of a street so that makes it pretty quiet at night. It's a cute and small place with all rooms located around a central courtyard that has benches and tables and a small gazebo in the middle. The wifi worked better in the courtyard than it did in the rooms. We like everything! the staff is lovely, friendly, the breakfast is very good, even the alfajores are fantastic. The manager Silvia is incredible, so happy woman, we highly recommend this hostel, we come back to san pedro and of course will stay at RUcas,thanks for all ,La Ruca people!. Clean place (including bathroom and the bedroom), nice breakfast...place, 3 minutes walking distance to main street. overall it´s a good. Friendliness of staff , comfortable beds , clean and a good breakfast.wifi good and heaters good . The location is good, te breakfast is simple but good and the staff are helpfull. Central to the town of San Pedro. Good size room and bathroom. Loved the hammocks. Good location. hot water. Location-Shower-Ambience. We had a couple of minor issues with the shower & the toilet not refilling but we worked around that successfully. Last morning we had no hot water.....BUT Turned out the propane tank had emptied. We should have told the desk then when it happened because later when we mentioned it....they immediately went to check the problem and replaced the empty with a full tank and problem was fixed. I really did like this place a lot so the moral is....let them know if you have a problem and they will be glad to solve it for you. Breakfast service was not good as the person serving did not speak English; refused to be helpful and I had to be rude in order to get the service we paid for - definitely not good on an overall reasonable hostel: Night reception was mainly Spanish speaking (and helpful). Not a lot. Struggling to think. But that has got to be a good sign . Being ultra critical towels could have smelled fresher and could have had a plug in the sink. That is it. Congrats to all staff. The hotel is just next to a bar/restaurant/hostel and some nights were noisy. It's pricey for a private room but in line with other accommodations in town. If you pay with credit card they add the 19% tax. breakfast is included, but when you have excursion early in the morning, there is no service. It would be better if there were simple breakfast box. Staff is not very helpful. Breakfast starts at 7.30, right after most tours start (I could not try it). They charge extra for Credit Card.
