This was our second stay in the Monte Alegro. Great location near the Arcos de Lapa. Plenty of supermercados, banks, restaurants in the area. Staff were energetic and knowledgable. Very helpful with taxis and service. Rooms were large and clean. Nice pool area. Very good breakfast. -

Value for money in Rio, WiFi always worked in my room, Breakfast was good and delivered to my room. Around the corner from Rio Scenarium, an excellent nightclub with live bands. The Rio Metro is within walking distance and can take you anywhere for less than US$2.

The staff were absolutely wonderful in every way. They arranged safe storage of documents in the hotel safe even though it was not a usual service.
The house keeping staff are fastidiously clean.
The porter in particular was a gem. He walked me to a laundry some distance away and arranged laundry as I do not speak Portuguese well.

Hotel is in Lapa, a few hundred meters from the famous arches. Transport connections are very good - there are several buslines that run past the hotel and allow access to most parts of Rio easily. Breakfast was fine. AC worked, which is somewhat important when it's +37C outside
