Ducale is in the centre of Gent, only 500 metres from Sint-Baafsplein and the Belfort. This intimate bed and breakfast features free Wi-Fi and serves a Continental breakfast daily. Each of the rooms at La Ducale has cable TV, a private bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms have access to either a balcony on the street side or a terrace at the back. The Alijn House and Gent-Dampoort Station are a 15-minute walk away. Ducale is a 40-minute drive from the centre of Brugge.

The apartment is spacious and has all of the amenities that you could want! It is modern and the 2 queen sized beds are comfortable and cozy. The location is wonderful - just a short walk to the wonderful downtown. Actually, the B&B is in the edge of the downtown area. The owners are gracious and provided very helpful information about sightseeing and parking our rental car. Great location. Friendly staff. Flat screen tv with many channels in various languages. Spacious (enough for 5-6). Near a supermarket to buy food. Right on tram route into/out of city centre. But really only a 5 minute walk into the city. Elevator to 3rd floor apartment. Parking 5 minutes away. (10 euros per night 8-24 hours). Can set own heating temperature.
alle vurderinger » The staff in La Ducale were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The 'comfort room' was clean and very comfortable. It is within easy walking distance of the centre and the number 24 tram takes you straight from the train station to the hotel. The breakfast was simple but very tasty. Excellent location in city centre (nice neighbourhood, with amenities). Friendly and obliging landlady. Spotlessly clean bathroom. Comfortable furniture, bed not too soft or squishy; beautiful view with balcony (2nd floor double room). Romantic, freshly-decorated interiors. squeequi board authentic floors, it was nicely rustically decorated, lightproof curtains, breakfast, nice owner-lady, location not far by tram from sint piters station, right in the most beautifull historial central part of town, fridge, hairdryer, iron in the room. Old house right in the historical center. St. Bavo cathedral is just around the corner. Tasty breakfast. Nearest cheap parking (2.5 Eur) is 15 minutes walk at St. Petersplein. The staff/family was fantastic and extremely welcoming and friendly. Furthermore they were very helpful, and the breakfast was delicious!. The pull-out sofa was quite uncomfortable for our teenage son to sleep on. We would suggest replacing it to bring it up to the standards of the rest of the apartment. But overall, I would highly recommend this accommodation for a family of 4-5. Shower room in bedroom. Being picky, it was very basic (only soap-no toilet roll holder-only wine glasses). No freezer/ice. We installed the flat screen tv as the old one was broken and he didn't have time to instal it. Breakfast was simple (barely enough for us three). No hair dryer. The tram can be heard from the room and although it wasn't loud enough to bother us, it could bother light sleepers. Also the water pressure was a little variable. Good ingredients but limited choice at breakfast. Two-storey walk up: fine for me, but not handicapped friendly. No soap in bathroom. Don't remember a refrigerator in room. traffic noise (bring earplugs), low watter pressure (ok for shower, but not for bath), dors could be more insulated, 2nd floor with steep stairs no lift (if you have a knee or hip condition beware). Beware of long narrow stairs to the top floor especially if you bring a big baggage. Someone would not like ancient furniture but we found it romantic. The building is old and therefore loud/creaky. Nothing. They didn't reply the phone call though asked to inform about the arrival time. However there were no problems with check in. No onsite parking Difficult to find. Wifi didn't work. Few towels. Nothing. The stairs to the top floor were never ending. Pack light ! :). Nothing really. Room was on the 2nd floor without a lift. B&B information states that parking is quoted at 2.50 euros per day, when we arrive the land lady tells us that the public car park 10 euro per day!!. A bit pricy. Unable to pay with card. Could not find how the wifi worked and thought the breakfast box was small for 5 people. Lack of Air conditioning in rooms. Lack of mosquito nets. Television was missing in room. Coffee was missing in kitchen. Very poor breakfast. Not enough for 5 people. The owner insisted on paying in cash only, we were tired from the long journey, but he was extremely long and sat right on the sofa of our rented apartment so we didn't feel comfortable. The breakfast was a miserable joke. Bathroom had huge window without blinds or shades. Completely expose to outside eyes. No fridge in room. Small staircase also.The building is still to be restored, our room was a bit of a mess with two different floors, broken curtains, torn sheets, incomplete wall painting...which is something we can perfectly cope with, as long as they don't charge us as if we were in a 4stars hotel ;). It doesn't look like a hotel , it looks like if you are staying in a room at someone's house, nothing against , but it should be less expensive ( no value for money ) . There is no reception or any indication ( on the outside ) that this is a Hotel. With a bit of effort this problem could be solved and it should look more like a hotel.The rooms were clean but the income and the stairs to the rooms were quite messy and dirty . No breakfast possible before 8am, no working lights in the bathroom, moths were flying in the curtains, etc. It was very hard to find the hotel, the pillow was wet, very loud junkers in the bathroom woke me every 30min when I closed the bathroom doors aeration slammed the doors so I have to open it. Internet doesn`t worked. The noise outside (electric aggregate?) The white curtains made the room too light Light outside the window (all night) Scanty breakfast (no egg, no fresh orange juice). Booking was not 'registered' although I had the owner's wife on the phone an hour before arriving, so we had to wait outside in the freezing cold to reach someone of the B&B and they put is in a bigger room with room temperature when entering was 4°c and it didn't get higher then 14°C. No bath although that was main raison for booking here. Had to call the owner in the evening because they forgot to put the breakfast in front of the door as promised. Electrical wires sticking out of the walls, floors that looked newly sanded covered with dirty carpet. Holes in the sheet rock and the room smelled like pigeons. Forty three steps up to the first room with 5 down once in the room (no elevator or help with bags). Paint chipped, mold in bathroom. Would not have stayed if alternative for the night was available. We stayed in one of the apartments across the street. It was not properly cleaned and moreover it seemed not finished yet: it didn't have curtains in the bedroom and the bathroom, where the window was instead covered with kitchen paper taped to it...
