Winner of Australia National Tourism Award Best Backpacker Accomodation 2014, Railway Square YHA is ideally located next to Central Station in the Sydney CBD (Central Business District). It offers excellent public transport links and features a free WiFi hotspot, an outdoor swimming pool, barbecue facilities and a café. Most accommodation is in old railway carriages. Continental breakfast, hot drinks and snacks are served at The Parcel Shed Café. Guests can also prepare their own meals at the large fully equipped communal kitchen. There are shared dining and lounge areas where guests can relax. Laundry facilities are available. Each room at YHA Railway Square includes secure luggage storage and all bed linen is provided. Railway Square YHA is 150 metres from Sydney’s main bus terminal. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops are located on the hostel’s doorstep. Sydney Airport is 10 km away.

I was only there for a very short time (not even 12hours), but the staff at reception were very friendly and check in was seamless; the bed I had was comfortable enough, with clean sheets (although the top bunk was a bit squeaky!). The 4 bed dorm was very roomy, clean and new. The bathroom and showers were clean and adequate. Overall, very impressed, if I'd had more time I would have liked to check out more of the facilities. There were lots of friendly looking people around and it looks lik.
