This is the real Hawaii! Our children visited on the lanai and cracked fresh macadamia nuts. In the morning we drank rich Kona coffee, from the local landscape and delighted in sharing adventures and insiders knowledge over a perfect breakfast. Easy location to beaches, restaraunts, and sunny Kona weather. Kurt's family home surpasses any destination hotel or resort. We longed for it after moving on to other parts of the island. 5 stars.,

The rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and bed was comfortable. Location was great, we didn't realize how close the Inn was to the road to Hana, this was a great plus. Sandy was a great host and it was nice to meet other travellers staying at the Inn. Side note - unlike most hotels it was very very dark and quiet at night, this made for a restful night's sleep!

The location was great for access to Volcano National Park. The tour of the on-site lava tube was great. The setting was beautiful. Breakfast first day seemed kind of limited for kids but realized Shannon thought is was for two adults. Once she found out I was traveling with my daughter she put out "kid-friendly" options. Very, very responsive. -

Upon arriving, we parked in the spot labeled Pineapple. Toby was working in his "man cave" and came out to greet us immediately.
He showed us around the lower level facilities including the hoses to rinse off sand; the beach chairs, snorkel gear and coolers we could use for our stay (even sunscreen), and the outdoor shower and hot tub. They reall

Toby and Kirby are superb hosts! Since they've lived in the area for decades, they have an intimate knowledge of the north short of Kauai, and of its residents -- chatting with them was a bit like being an insider!
Toby's breakfasts are superb, and the home is beautiful, and supremely comfortable. The kitchen and living room were always open to guests and we took full advantage of it.
You could have as much privacy or be more social with guests and the hosts, as you preferred.

EVERYTHING!! the cottage was extremely quaint, peaceful and private. it felt very homey and comfortable. landscape surrounding the cottages was quite magical. though it's near the main road, it wasn't noisy. the gardens were lush and green. Dixon the cat has his own beautiful resting place and Mr Webber, duck is his refreshing replacement : )

The Inn was surprisingly exciting, different, homely and very memorable. We felt we were really in Hawaii, not just another hotel or resort. Irene was very interesting, warm and friendly. A very friendly B&B in Pahoa, the innkeeper, Irene, was super
friendly and helpful. I was feeling ill the day I arrived from a week-
long cold, and Irene made me ginger tea immediately. I felt so much
better the next day. It's a motherly touch that a large resort
cannot replicated (which I stayed at before arriving at Lava Tree).
It's something so small as that that can change your entire vacation
and make it bettter. The home was clean and the breakfast was delicious.

We stayed in two different rooms on two different nights. The first room
was the cheap basic room. That one was tiny but had all the amenities we
needed. The second room was the private studio downstairs and was
amazing with a kitchen, living room, and great amenities. I believe the
price difference isn't too great between the rooms so I def would
suggest the studio if you plan on being in your room a lot. The location
was great- right down the street from the beach. Shopping was close by.

We were supplied with all the breakfast items we could want for our 4 day stay. The fruit was especially good! The location was great for exploring the east side of the island and the volcano. Dinner at Volcano House while overlooking the volcano's glow was magical.

Stayed in the Deluxe Suite. Very large, comfortable room with an enormous bed and plenty of room to spread out. Included small kitchenette with small fridge, microwave and sink. Lenny is very nice, welcoming and helpful.

We stayed in the deluxe suit. Everything was perfect and we highly recommend this place. The place was super clean, cozy, designed with the best taste and equipped with all one needed. It’s located in a beautiful quiet garden and close to the volcano park. We stayed for one night only, but sincerely hope to return for a longer stay. The owner is a very nice person who pays attention to the small details.
