  This is your quintessential English country inn doing the simple things (hospitality, service, value) really well. The menu is unfussy, but has nice touches...loved the pickled chantenay carrots with the smoked duck breast... and the view from the dining room is just 'perfick' My room had a welcoming touch of eccentricity about its decor, but was ... wat mensen zeggen » comfortable and well provided. Chatting to the locals, I had the impression that The Chequers had languished somewhat under its previous owners, but S - We really liked our stay in this hotel. We felt at home immediately and loved the location of the hotel. One can easily reach Brighton, Gatwick, nature en small villages. One can have een drink on the terrace and a nice meal or a chat with the owner or the staff. In short: Very friendly staff. Quiet place. Good food. Easygoing. Humor.
