  I have been visiting Orkney for the past 18 years and stayed in most of the hotels in Kirkwall, but for the past few years I have chosen the Ayre. Although Orkney is like going back in time - but only in a good way - this hotel offers very comfortable and spacious modern rooms and fine dining, using local produce which is always good. The staff ... wat mensen zeggen » are very friendly, efficient and accommodating. My stay is always a pleasure. - The staff at the hotel were fantastic,the Orcadians must be the most friendliest people on the planet.The Hotel was immaculate,and in the heart of Kirkwall,they went out of their way to help us.

  Staff was friendly and helpful, though the wait staff was inexperienced and had some issues. Great location in a small town very near the heart of neolithic Orkney - just a few miles to the major sites which let you be flexible in avoiding the tour buses. Food was excellent in the restaurant, breakfasts were delicious, both featured local meats an... wat mensen zeggen » d foods. - The room was comfortable and clean, the food was excellent and owners and staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an ideal central location in a quiet village, is easy to find and has ample parking spaces. I wanted a relaxing holiday and this is exactly what I got.
