We liked the ambiance; the attention to details; the lovely and thoughtfully decorated (inside and out) mansion where the hotel resides, and the adorable pond in the quiet street nearby.
The hotel is situated in a short walking distance from the city center, many restaurants and main tourist attractions; as well as to the central bus station and city port. about 10 min outbound; 15 min inbound since it is situated on a hillside. alle beoordelingen »
The hotel's location is quite central, so provides easy access to Bergen's restaurants, shops, and museums. It's all within a 5-10 minute walk.
The breakfast was excellent -- one of the best I've had in a long time.
The midday check-out time is a nice addition. Too often nowadays the check-out time is 10am.
Free biscuits and coffee/tea/hot chocolate from the vending machine in the lounge.
The lounge/breakfast room were beautiful.
The staff were very helpful. When I said that I would have trouble taking my luggage upstairs I was given a room on the ground floor. When I wanted my boarding pass printed the receptionist agreed to do this. When there was a problem logging onto the airline's website she 'phoned them for me and then told me that there was a problem with the airline's computer.
Very good continental breakfast included in the price, nice spread with cheese, ham, salami, pickles, yoghurts, eggs, fruit, warm bread, etc.
The dining/sitting room was stunning and availiable at all hours, with hot coffee, tea and juice at the ready.
The room was clean and quiet, with pretty paintings on the wall, and the staff was warm and friendly.
The situation of the Steen Hotel is lovely, opposite a park which was nice to be able to for a walk.
The hotel is up the hill from Bergen waterfront but still within walking distance.
The hotel has a beautiful breakfast/sitting room with a magnificent stained glass window. It was very quiet and pleasant. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Great substantial breakfasts which you need as eating out in Bergen is extortionate. They will keep you going all day!
Comfortable beds. Clean. Lovely helpful staff. Coffee/tea available in lounge all day
Lovely old family run hotel with a fabulous stained galls window, antiques and atmosphere!.
Beautiful location and facilities. Amazing breakfast spread starts your day out right.Great location to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown but still only a 5-10 minute walk to everywhere you want to go. Very helpful staff during our stay.
The decor and atmosphere. Unusual design feature like the curved stairways, the panelled dining room with the stained glass windows, the cosy lounge. Lovely outlook onto the park from our window. Availability of drinks at any time.
Character property. Location: short walk to city centre in a an attractive residential area. Sitting room available to guests with coffee, tea, fruit juice machines making drinks available 24 hours. Extremely comfortable bed.
Absolutelly unexpected was that this hotel is a wonderfull old atmospheric building with splendid view to the park, large balcony, late 19th century dining room and so on.
Very nice staff, perfect location.
Location, close to the action, but in a non-touristy part of Bergen.
Beautiful, period building.
Friendly, competent and welcoming staff.
Free, quality coffee all day.
A comfortable, clean room with a pleasant view of the park. The breakfast is superb. Very close to the University and an invigorating walk to downtown Bergen.
Spacious room with nice view over the lake.
Classic furniture and interior design travels back in time.
Everything is well maintained and clean.
Room fine, all-day tea/coffee good idea, good breakfast in lovely room, except for lack of fresh fruit on Monday, gluten-free bread a big plus.
Breakfast was great. We were traveling with friends- our room was spacious, their room was much smaller especially the bathroom.
A handy site just a few minutes walk from city centre & harbour & train station.
A quiet & comfortable hotel.
Very well furnished buffet. good location almost in the park. nice chance for free parking (what is unusual for Bergen).
Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Hot drinks available 24hrs a day. Good breakfast.
Lovely old home converted to comfortable small bedrooms. Loved the heated tiles in the bath room!.
Available staff, I could store my luggage there before coming back from a travel.
location, cleanliness, atmosphere, nice breakfast, coffee available all day.
They have really good breakfast and it's a lovely place to stay!.
friendly staff, very helpful, clean and comfortable.
Great location in a quite beautiful neighborhood.
building rooms are very period luxurious.
Cosy- "old fashioned" hotel.
Steens Hotel is conveniently located a short walk from Bergen city centre. It was clean and presentable with good facilities for the price. The breakfast, whilst limited, was of a good quality. The female receptionist who was on duty upon our arrival at lunchtime on 28 May was exceptionally professional and friendly and should be noted for being so welcoming.
The location is good - walking distance from the major sights, but still far enough not to be caught in the hustle and bustle, The breakfast/relaxation area was great.
very comfortable and nice surroundings. staff very helpful.
Character, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, location.
Close to city
Clean
Quiet
Breakfest included.
Lovely dining room and old furniture.
pleasant ambience.
breakfast was great, as well as the decor in the dining area.
Original brekfest room.
No elevator; carrying a large suitcase up to and down from the second floor was a chore.
Even though the hotel is centrally located, it is at the top of a steep hill. It was OK for us, but this is likely not a hotel for the chronically unfit or those with mobility problems.
The rooms are a little dated (although well-kept, clean, and tidy).
The location. Wheeling luggage up a steep hill during the last two blocks was not easy. The last hill was very steep.
Some guests may not eat pork, and might miss alternative breakfast meats (turkey, etc).
The double bed was not a double bed, but two singles pushed together. They were very comfortable, but they slid apart constantly, which was annoying for a couple.
Walking up the hill to get there!.
The cost of the taxi transfer into town!.
Location: after dark area seemed rather quiet for walking around as a loan woman but nothing to suggest it was unsafe. This only an issue when wanted to go into centre for something to eat. Small bathroom with simple shower which merely had a curtain around and drainage holes in bathroom floor.
The breakfast was not really great, but fair enough for a 3-star. Some aspects of finishing in the rooms are not very good, old paind, comming out of the walls, a bit cold in the rooms.
Breakfast was only adequate.
A Steep walk up from the station, quite a pull with suitcases!
Breakfast was adequate but not really geared in to British tastes!.
everything in rooms is very old.
The hotel is at the top of a hill!.
Tiny bathroom.
no elevator.
The bathroom could have been bigger.
Now lefts.
We booked a double room and got a room with two single beds pushed together; whilst comfortable enough, the gap between the beds was annoying. Also building work at a neighbouring property was at times quite intrusive but beyond the control of the hotel.
could do with better provision for hot drinks.
Bathroom a bit cramped.
Tiny rooms
Individual room is actually a single bed.
Not enough storage space.
Park full of hobos just in front of the hotel.
rooms were small and stuff, windows were drilled closed. beds were not very comfortable and shower was very small.
Park full of narkomans.
