  Good host who provided useful local information on nearby pubs and cafes. Very close to Central station and tram routes. Flat well sourced with tea/coffee and travel guides/maps. Luckily we were on first floor - good tip to ask for this flat. Able to leave bags in cycle shop next door which was also run by our host. Staff very friendly and very helpful, carried our luggage upstairs. Sorted problem with tv immediately. Happy to store luggage for you before you book in and after you book out. Standard is similar to that of a good youth hostel in the uk.

  The staff was wonderful. Our refridgerator had a problem but they came within minutes to correct. We blew a fuse at 5 in the morning and again there in minutes to fix. Access to the hotel facilities was great too. But the staff is fantastic. There to help you and so friendly. Loved it. - Location and luxury

  Ronald the owner was lovely and made us feel at home from the start, chocolate brownies on arrival with everything to make a pot of tea. Fridge in room and very large space for a couple staying. Breakfast was served in the morning, candle lit and tasty too. Not ideal for party people and suited to couples, right next too paradiso and leidsplein an... wat mensen zeggen » d 20 ft from entrance to vondelpark. 20-30 minute walk into centrum so ideally placed, also 5-10 minute walk from museumplein/van gogh/rijksmuseum. Wo - The room was excellent very tastefully furnished and overlooking Vondelpark which was great for watching the rush hour for bicycles! Ronald makes your stay very special as he provides a great breakfast just for you, has a very homely atmoshphere. There is also a coffee machine in the room and a small fridge. Would definately stay again.

  The staff at the hotel were very efficient and friendly. Check-in took about five minutes in the queue, but only 30 seconds to complete once at the desk. The hotel is clean with a contemporary design and the rooms were very well equipped withan applemac that doubles as your tv and radio links and free WiFi and internet in the hotel. We have stayed in various budget hotels that have come nowhere near the same st - We liked the location - very accessible/walking distance from the central train station and to the city center. Guests can simply pick up anytime, free bottled water, and apple/banana at the reception area. The warm cookie for incoming guests is a nice way to welcome everyone. Wifi works well. Breakfast is very good - a lot of choices. The sky lounge is a good venue to relax in the evening and one can get ample view of the city.   Try to get room number 1, (smoking allowed & your own shower/toilet)... the view from the window is something else! There's no food provided but hotel Alfa is beside a decent café. It's also only 2 minutes away from the train station & you only have to walk around the corner for your nearest smoke. We stayed in the twin room and is exactly as the picture shows! Ignore the comment about about the building being old and decaying. It is old like many houses in the dam but not decaying!

  The hotel is quite new on the inside of the room. Beds are all new and the room smells good. It is very hard to get a room within budget but has this quality. - Great staff, very kind and helful. The location is perfect and the value for money was fair. highly recommended!

The breakfast also very good, although was a bit late as needed to leave early, bit it is ok given this hotel is not for business travellers and I chose it because I needed to attend a conference, and had to do it at the very last minute.
