We had several species of butterfly constantly on view from our veranda that faced the rainforest. Also a family of monkeys, black squirrel, lizards and fish in the stream that bubbled by beside us. Our back veranda overlooked the private sandy beach with rock pools and snorkelling. You arrive by speed boat past tiny islands and the twin peaks and rainforest looking down on you like The Lost World. Easily the best hotel I've ever stayed in.

Leaving was sad,although the boat journey past all the beaches and islands was wonderful. I shall return.

New and clean resort located south on the island. Staff is super friendly and helpfull. The food is not as local as we would like, but the chef were happy to make local food on request. Hada fantastic stay, thanks to staff and location. Weather was a bit unstable due to monsoon season. If sea is calm, it is very nice to snorkle even right outside the resort.

It is a bit deserted, no roads or transport other than boat. Low tide made it difficult to swim from parts of the beach.

Friendly and efficient staff, comfortable room, wonderful location and the perfect place to get away from it all.

Not much apart from having to get up at 5.30 to get taken to catch the ferry but that's down to the tides and not the hotel.

Hotel located straight at the beach, coral reefs which made us see loads of animals, like turtles, sharks, humphead parrotfish, stingrays etc. Service was excellent, our room got freely upgraded to beach villa which we enjoyed very much. We also even received a lunch package when we checked out as we had to leave early in the morning and had to miss breakfast. We would recommend this place for anyone wanting to visit a beautiful island and have a wonderful time in a relaxing/comfortable resort.

The speedboat transfer to and from the jetty is 60 RM/person. Sometimes it took long before your meals/drinks were served, especially when it was busier in the restaurant.

The location was astounding, the staff was very very accommodating and super friendly. It's a romantic place for people who want to get out of the every day rush

It's a new resort, so a lot of staff is in training which you notice: not always able to help you without a manager, a bit slow in the restaurant...but they are improving You can't really go anywhere without a boat so spontaneous trips are a bit difficult

The rooms were very beautiful and comfortable.

The restaurant needed more staff, wait times were a bit long. Also, there were times where you could simply not order food.

The hotel is well planned and new, rooms are comfortable. Facilities are enough for Tioman (swimming pool, dive center, Spa, game room, billiard). The are two powerfull boats for transit tourists from/to the airport and around Tioman (when the sea is stormy it's a big advantage). The staff were friendly and helpfull. Fantastic location - near huge and impressive double rocks - Twin Peak (we've climbed !), you can also go to Asah waterfall via two hotels and Mukut village. Another interesting pass that we went is Tekek - Juara (7 km)

We were disapointed when we see cutted trees behind the hotel and garbage around the staff houses (public area was clean). Short menu (especially if you would stay at the hotel more than one week). The bar near the pool was closed.

Tunamaya is really good choice for anyone, who would like spend some calm and relaxing days in very nice tropic environment. We spent 6 nights in this resort and we was completely satisfied with everything. The rainforest villas are well equipped, clean. The bed is extremely comfortable. The staff is helpful. The pool area is nice, but a bit small. Pawana Restaurant is also very good, but not the cheapest.

The wi-fi in the public area is low quality. The airport speadboat transfer is quite expensive (80MYR/person/way). The beach is not the best, because the water is full of broken corals and rocks.

Lovely place with nature and comfort in the same package. Nice coral reefs just in front of the hotel, jungle next to your hotel room's patio. So not necessary any need for extra exploring trips (good if you are staying only a few nights). Snorkling trip with 2 spots to explore was nice though. Waters are really, really clear, and the beach clean. There is only the hotel restaurant where to eat. Food was not amazing but good enough, wine list was more than ok considered the place (tropical island). Prices were ok, as they should when you do not have any other options. Rooms are tidy and very comfortable, and if you ask for something, you will get it right away. At least during our stay the place was calm and everybody kept for themselves. Not a place to party, but to relax and enjoy the amazing view.

Excellent helpful service. Important to always take perspective that it is an island and the team at Tunamaya do the best they can with restrictions of being an island resort. Good food, just always ask a couple of times what is available on the menu and go with the flow. Excellent dive centre and wonderful snorkelling at your doorstep. pool is awesome.

The trip back was very rough, but that is due to mother nature. Bit expensive to charge RM 80 per person one way, when it is the only real option.

Some of the best scenery in the world. Gorgeous beach filled a short way out with coral and tropical fish to see while snorkeling. Jungle treks are right outside your door. The staff is consistently friendly, courteous, and helpful, and the property is beautifully landscaped. We saw mother monkies with their babies clinging to them ambling by the villas and trees above. Has a private, low key lovely ambiance. There was a range of people there from different parts of the world. This is a great place for couples or families to enjoy the extraordinary setting and comfort. The food was good with a range of Western and Asian dishes. One dinner they offered grilled fish made to order. Getting there and back by boat was a pleasant adventure. A piece of paradise!

We liked the service that the staff given and the chief by the name Nathan really made our day by whipping dishes that was so good and the best part it was not in the menu... It made us felt as we catered a chief for our trip. We name it , he cooked it....

The waiting time for the ferry from the resort to picked us up at the Genting jetty. We waited two and a half hour for them to picked. They should arrange guest to be send to the resort once they reach the jetty , rather than make everyone wait on the ferry for them to picked up guest at Tekek ....which was 1hour trip....
