The morning prayers were very interesting. There are two parts - chants at the prayer room, followed by the fire ritual at a shrine beside the temple. It can take more than an hour so it may not be appealing to those who are not interest or impatient. The temple is located near to Okunoin, so you can go for a walk there early in the morning or at ... wat mensen zeggen » night. The temple organises a night walk every month during what they call the Kobo Daishi day but I have no idea when that is - perhaps the full moon - Koyasan is absolutely beautiful, and definitely worth a trip out of the hustle and bustle of Osaka.
