  Mie Sumi (the lady at the ryokan) was very helpful in everything, including making reservation for bus ride to Takayama. My wife and I also made full use of the free bicycles in our exploration of the main sights in lovely Kanazawa. In our views, cycling is the best way to experience the city, especially when you have limited time. Our one dinner and three breakfasts were plentiful and good quality traditional Japanese. Our room with private toilet was spacious and quiet. Even with three mattresses I still found the bed hard but wanted to experience the traditional ryokan. I would recommend it for being near shops and many places of interest.

  Across the street from the jr station and an otherwise convenient location for getting around the city. Rooms were very clean and spacious (deluxe twin room). Rooms are also all above 18th floor, ours had a nice view of the city. Good value for the price. - Excellent hotel and staff. Included breakfast buffet was one of the best we've had and we've had many. Clean rooms with Western style bathrooms. We were upgraded, and the bathroom was actually luxurious. Very convenient location across the street from the train station. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  Set right in the middle of the Geisha district (a good thing as all the buildings are traditional and pretty). As soon as you walk in you see framed photos of a cat doing various things, it is the owners cat who slinks around the place like a king - the owner herself is a rad lady who doesn't speak much English but is very accommodating and lovely... wat mensen zeggen » . The room we had was cheap and huge, with a balcony looking out to the street, and more importantly free tea! bathrooms are separate but there was a - This is a unique chance to experience Japanese hospitality at its simplest best. No frills but the real thing: tatami rooms, futon beds, common ofuro. While the owner understands enough English to deal with her guests, she appreciates it when the latter make an effort to utter a few words in Japanese. Had the place not been fully booked, I would gladly have spent a week there, in the middle of the eastern geisha district. Am looking forward to my next visit! I almost forgot to mention the rate:

  This was just perfect. A modern ryokan with all the tradition and relaxation of old but with modernity and first class facilities and luxury. We wanted for nothing and could not have been made to feel more welcome. Fabulous experience which I will remember for a long time. The baths and restaurant were particularly good. It's also 3 mins walk from the stunning trai - The location, so near the train/bus station, is unbelievably convenient.The staff met our every need. This place is beautifully designed. Plentiful hot water, towels, and Shiseido products made the onsen (public bath) experience a twice-daily delight. Tea and sweets were served whenever we returned from shopping or sightseeing. Excellent food is available in the restaurant.
