  Donzy is a great unspoilt pretty little village convenient when visiting Sancerre and this end of the Loire. Le Grand Monarque is a charming very comfortable hotel run by the proprietors, Anne –Marie, restaurant and reception and Mark the Chef, both of whom are quite delightful and provide friendly efficient service. Di - We stayed here several times some years back, under the old maitre, now deceased. If our room was typical, the new owners have vastly improved the accommodation, especially the bathrooms, which are excellent. Room bright and cheerful, bed very comfortable. Food was always good, and reasonable value, and still is, though surprising that there's no a la carte. Wine a bit expensive. Nice outside drinks terrace at the back but only leaves room for five cars now. Breakfast OK - had better, had
