  Hotel 140 was a great place to stay for me. I was traveling alone and it was located just a block from the train station. The front desk was great to help me in directions of the city. Very friendly staff. Also after I left and was at the train station having a hard time figuring out which way to go, a young man asked if he could help. He was not at work and I did not recognize him so he could h - Hotel 140 is located only a 5-minute walk from the rear exit of Back Bay Railroad Station. Upon arrival I had taken the train from Springfield, MA. I followed the drive where the local buses pull into Back Bay Station right out to Clarendon Street and bore left. I had just a half-block walk from that point to the front entrance of the hotel. Staff members are nice, however, I would not say that they were excellent. We actually did not have any particular problem with them, so let's say they are OK. The services of the hotel are pretty good, including the every day newspaper, the information booklet in the room (which was extremely helpful) and the free wifi. Those who usually use the mini bar should be aware that there was no such thing in the room (we do not have any issue with this).

  Location was great! Its a very historical building and its been updated. On the first night, there was banging like someone was using a hammer at 9pm and I called the front desk and it stopped!   The hotel is in a great location. It must be amazing to have a room with a view of the park. Sadly, I wasn't that lucky. The room itself was spacious. The bed was comfortable, but the matress a little worn. I kept sliding to the edge of the bed. The plaid on the bed had holes in it. Flat-screen TV with ample stations. She was very prompt in answering any question we had. Amanda was our turn down attendant at night. She was just the nicest, most gracious and helpful person you could have to get you settled in at night. Housekeeping for our room, 612, was awesome.
