Comfortable, friendly staff, clean swimlming pool, accessible: within ten minutes walk of station
The 1970s retro interior decoration may be an acquired taste for some
Friendly reception, very helpful and attentive staff. Food was really good.
Tree sap on my new Range Rover from trees within the car park.
I liked the staff especially the sleep in manager he was very friendly and had a good chat with me and my partner
The breakfast menu was a a bit minimal but apart from that every thing was fine
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
On a regular bus route and near enough to the City.
Extractor fan in bathroom very noisy.
chris was very helpful, room was clean, tidy and comfortable
Staff were really nice, breakfast was excellent, hotel was very clean, warm and cosy
steam room wasnt steamy, the bathroom was small and should maybe just have had a shower in it and put in kingsize beds it was a double bed too small
I loved the leisure facilities, particularly the swimming pool. The breakfast was lovely also
Nothing I didn't like
hotel was spotless staff very helpful and accommodating, food and service were excellent, chris the manager in particular
dinning room and bar location not suitable if you have walking difficulties as both are located in basement of hotel steep stairs to get to basement
Nice greeting at reception and shown to our room, four poster bed, plenty of tea coffee sachets, friendly staff, quaint bar in cellar, excellent breakfast, friendly staff
Squeaky floorboards in the four poster bedroom
The staff are amazingly friendly and really made us feel welcome. Everyone was cheerful, helpful and all round nice. It felt more like a family hotel than a chain hotel (and I mean that as a positive comment.)
The pool was the perfect temperature and a good depth: it was shallow enough for my 8 year old daughter to touch the bottom, but deep enough for comfortable adult swimming.
The Gym had a good range of machines, and whenever I went there I had them all to myself.
The car park had plenty of space, the WiFi worked flawlessly.
There was a basket of sugar, milk etc.in the reception area to top up supplies if you ran out. The supplies in the room were generous so I never needed the top up, but it was still a welcome touch.
The room was large, it and the the en suite were well cleaned and got fresh linen every day.
Very easy to access York through Mickelgate bar. Close enough to walk, but if you get bored with the walk there is parking near Cliffords tower which is easily accessed from the hotel.
There was a wide choice of food for breakfast and the staff were very willing to produce items that were not on the menu (my daughter asked for a sausage sandwich with ketchup and they didn't blink just rapidly produced what she asked for, I have known many a large chain to refuse this sort of non-standard request).
I have recommended the Best Western Kilima in York to friends and would go again.
Breakfast room/bar is a little dark, being on the ground floor which is built into a hillside and doesn't have windows all around. I think decorating with lighter colours might help this area. However this is a minor criticism, the fast friendly service and good food more than made up for any criticisms on the slightly dark decor.
One of the rooms was right next to the kitchen extractor fan, the noise meant it was impossible to sleep when switched on.
The second room the temperature was extremely high for no apparent reason
Extremely friendly and helpful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. The evening meal menue is a little short on variety but the meal when served was excellent quality. The service during our stay of two nights was wonderful and I can only say again how excellent the staff are.
There was nothing that either my husband or I could find fault with.
The bathroom in my room desperatley needed updating. The shower was awful but apart from that the room was comfortable and clean and perfectly fine for a one night stay.
staff very very friendly
rooms great size and clean
restaurant very cosy
kids loved the pool
overal a fantastic weekend wish we could of stayed longer. will deffinately come back
there was nothing we did not like about this hotel
location and friendly staff, and a good breakfast
The staff were very welcoming and went out of there way to make us feel valued as a customer. There was a high standard of customer service followed by all staff.
Some parts of the hotel could have done with an update in decor
The staff were very friendly and welcoming
The walk from the car park to the front door with my luggage in the rain up a slippery slope - but I'm sure they would have helped had I asked, so not really a complaint :)
the staff were excellent, location excellent
everything from arrival to departure room food pool staff all excellent
only staying 3 nights
Close proximity to town centre, (easily within walking distance). Leisure facilities which would be a boost during the winter months.Good restaurant within the hotel and friendly staff.
No air-conditioning in rooms and it seemed to take a considerable time for the rooms which weren't being vacated to be serviced (our room wasn't serviced one day till well into late afternoon.
Everything was very good, food could not fault. It was nice to have a refreshing swim after a short stroll into the center of York.
Sorry but the coffee is not the best, the steam room is in need of repair but sure they are aware of that.
the people were great and friendly(especially the manager chris) and the bed was comfy
floorboards were really squeaky
The hotel, the staff and the facilities
The room was smal and cramped
Great family suite - one room for the parents, another for the kids, with interconnecting door. Much better than all squashing into one room. Hooray for some privacy!
All staff were extremely friendly, too. Really gave the impression of caring about your stay.
Swimming pool is relatively shallow, which may be an issue for *some* people, but is great for families - our kids were just about in their depth everywhere.
Location is great for visiting York - we left the car in the hotel car park the whole time.
Decor is a bit outdated, but that was expected and in no way caused a problem. (That's the extent of my negativity, which is a comment in itself...)
I very much liked the swimming pool. I also enjoyed the dinner that I had, good food and pleasant service. The breakfasts were good, too. Also, it was nice to have a lounge where one could sit.
Not much outlook from this room, although it was a nice room in every other respect.
Great happy friendly staff good car park good food great base for our 3 day trip to York will be going back again
bathroom needed updating
The room was large and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool facilities were clean and enjoyable. The food in the restaurant was excellent with very large portions. Very relaxed atmosphere and an extremely enjoyable stay. We are definitely going to stay again!!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good clean room.
Very nice breakfast.
Nice and cool bar and dining area.
Really friendly staff, really lovely food, really lovely pool. Easy distance to walk into York and got great parking. They were able to store our bikes for us too which was great.
A king size bed would have made the stay 10/10 rather than 9/10.
Very friendly staff, nice clean hotel, good location would stay there again
Staff were extremelly friendly and helpful
Some of the decor was a bit dated
Fully satisfied expectation as 3 Star Hotel. Difficult time as unusually warm/hot. Difficult to get air into room.
Plumbing. No cold water to basin. Over weekend so no chance to fix.
Excellent Hotel, good location for city centre.
The swimming pool and steam room were first class.
The location was very convenient for the National railway Museum.
very comfortable with good facilities, staff friendly and helpful
The pool and free parking
The bed wasn't very big I measured it at 51" wide didn't get a very good night's sleep
The very warm welcome we received; the comfortable four-poster bed and separate lounge area in our room; the three course breakfast and the swimming pool.
No lift to the upper floor.
The friendly help and assistance of the staff.
There was not a single thing that I didn't like.
Friendly, helpful staff. Parking excellent and easy access to York via bus or an easy walk
Slight problems on the first evening with dinner... wine opened before arrival at table, unopened mussel in a paella, and part of a main missing but all were dealt with quickly and efficiently and the second night was fine.
Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to be helpful
Bed was a bit too soft!
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the room was well decorated and clean. The restaurant was used twice and we enjoyed both meals. The car park had plenty of room.
Nothing, we enjoyed the stay.
Reception and restaurant staff.
The building. Breakfast. The bed.
A TV that worked. Quietness.
I usually stay at the Park but this is more enjoyable.
the hotel itself was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable, it was also very spacious.
I thought the prices for the bar and restaurant were very expensive. We didn't have any meals in the hotel apart from breakfast, although we would have liked to have had an evening meal but it was to expensive.
the friendliness of everyone
Food was excellent and staff great too
Great hotel very friendly staff, and cracking location (close to York city, which is why I chose it!!)
Steam Room in need of some TLC (one seat was cracked and not a pleasant smell in there)...
