Upgraded to four poster room
Pool could have been warmer. Gym cooler
Excellent breakfast served by friendly staff
nice stylish room
We woke up too late and didn't get a breakfast which was served till 9.30am.
The bed was a bit too short for a tall person.
Friendly home-like atmosphere, nice breakfast, leisure zone, good management.
Allof the people that worked at Kilima were very friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel's bar was a little under stocked.
Lovely restaurant with great food and service. Four poster room very comfortable. Staff all very good. Short walk to city centre.
Steam room had a broken seat and steam outlet could direct steam onto legs.
Room 7 door lock awkward to open, needs adjusting.
Attenton to detail, nothing was too much trouble to make your stay comfortable.Food was excellent, and the swimming pool was a decent size,
Cant really find any faults
the atmosphere, of the hotel and the friendlyness of the staff and other guests. its location was a short walk to york city walls.
Breakfast was excellent staff very friendly nothing too much to ask for. Location perfect.
Squeaky floorboards in the room meant u were wakened if your partner got up.. Very noisy
Location, easy to walk into town.
Staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble and friendly
Foyer and entrance a bit dark and dingy
staff and position
food was good but very little choice my wife requested a salad for a main course and it was very poor 3 slices of cheese one tomato and a few bits of lettuce
staff were very friendly and helpful and we loved the four poster bed and the television room was so comfortable and if we had time we would of loved to go swimming
Very warm welcome from Chris as we arrived set the tone for a happy, relaxing break. Room was a good size, clean, with a comfortable bed. The free wifi is a must for us these days and it connected immediately. The swimming pool was the perfect temperature with plenty of towels in the changing rooms. At meal times Sammy was the perfect host and we enjoyed the full English breakfast. The secure parking was much appreciated.
Nothing really but the evening meals were expensive and portions too big. It would be better to reduce both.
great hotel in quiet location, 20 mins walk to castle walls max, lovely pool, friendly staff, great breakfast, lovely family room (11), would i stay again... Yes!
Warm welcome Comfortable room Big bed Good shower Best kippers ever at
breakfast Quorn dish available on dinner menu
The decor and general feeling of character that surrounded everything about the hotel.
The gym was a bit small. Very expensive restaurant.
The large and comfortable family room which was nice and cosy as well as being very clean. The staff were very efficient and friendly. My daughter loved the pool and my husband loved the large (and free) car park, especially when we noticed the prices at the car parks in the city centre! Its nice that the hotel is an easily-walkable distance from the town centre.
The creaky floorboards kept waking me up at night when other guests were moving around, but it was probably what I expected from an old building.
All the staff were excellent and very friendly. The breakfast was wonderful and the room was comfortable. There was ample car parking to the rear of the hotel,I was able to leave the car there after checking out untill I journeyed back home. I would Not hesitate to book the Kilima again.
Only staying one night!!
obliging friendly staff
lack of a lounge area. limited to hallway sofas and small bar
relaxed and freindly enviroment
Bathroom was clean but in need of update
Breakfast service was excellent
Shower difficult to use
The 4 poster bed, room decor, swimming pool, breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, location
Lovely staff. Brilliant evening menu, thought I'd died and gone to
heaven eating their lamb dish. Lovely four poster bed and lounge,
definitely be going back.
The hotel was in a great location. The staff were very friendly.
Our room to the rear on the ground floor was ok and hed everything we needed . The bathroom was a bitty tatty and tired looking.
Overall a good hotel for a short city trip
Lovely staff excellent clean rooms The swimming pool was great
Breakfast on a Sunday finishes at 9.30 bit early for us
Everything about this place is impressive from the first meeting to the
checking out process Chris on reception is a superb example and many
other hotels could do well just watching his manner and hoping to
emulate his style The room surpassed all expectations and our stay could
not have been better there is a cracking pool and breakfast was one of
the finest ever sampled in a uk hotel I can only thank the staff at the
Kilima for saving what was nearly a complete disaster of a trip away
Cant think of anything
We liked the comfortable warm room and the four poster bed .We also thought the complimentary hot chocolate and biscuits on the tea tray were very welcome after a chilly, damp day spent shopping,The breakfast was all waitress served,(no self service queues here,)by friendly efficient smiling staff.
No tv in bar for sport,
This hotel was beautiful. Staff worked very to make your pleasurable. Fantastic time.
Everything excellent as usual
Staff very helpful and child friendly, which makes a big difference when traveling with a young child.Car park is free and able to use day of check out also.Pool warm and clean and long opening hours. My family and I had a lovely stay and would recomend hotel to others.
Evening opening time of resturant being alittle earlier for children would have been of benefit if eating in hotel at night (opening time was 18:30)
Comfortable spacious rooms, super breakfast, clean pool area,
No complaints at all
Stunning staff Excellent food especially breakfast Lovely swimming pool very clean ample secure parking Ideal location for city visit
Bed on small side (used to king size at home)
Had a lovely stay. Staff helpful. Hotel well furnished and clean. Room
(4 poster room) clean and comfortable. Ate in restaurant which was very
quiet on the Saturday night but food was good and plentiful portions.
Walkable to the city walls and into the centre, approx 15-20 minutes.
Pool small and steam room miniscule - 5 seats but one broken and one
directly above the steam outlet and recommended not to sit on! Breakfast
was very busy and therefore service a bit slow as staff were over
stretched. Food good however.
1. Car park had a steep walk to front entrance.
2. Staff had left bike against railings & car parked close making it difficult to pass.
3. Steep stairs to floor level 1 to carry case.
4. Restaurant looked a little dark depressing.
comfy room with good space and light. clean, tidy, big enough pool and spa, heated to a pleasant temp. hotel heated well, not too hot at night. Chef catered for my gluten sensitivity brilliantly by adapting the menu and they had some special bread.
Breakfast was amaizing
Swimming pool really appreciable
Staff warm and friendly, really really professional!
Old style decoration
The distance from the city centre
Good quality room with hot shower, clean carpet, nice decor, good selection of hot drinks, etc The restaurant food was also very good and good value for money.
The room was cleaned and serviced daily.
Only one vegetarian item on the dinner menu - could have more variety.
The bed - very comfy - and the breakfast
We loved having the adjoining room for our children. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The swimming pool was great.
Could soon do with a refurb.
Move it a little closer to city centre.
Staff were very pleasent, food was very good
Floorboards in room were very noisy. At dinner the waitress did not know
what the dishes were on the menu?
everything.a really lovely place to stay.
The family room was a lovely surprise! We had struggled to find a family room for 5 and this was perfect. A four poster bed for us and a separate room for the children with television/ DVD player. Very comfy beds. Everywhere was maintained to the highest standard and beautifully clean. The swimming pool was fantastic - my two girls even went for a late swim with dad while I put their 3 year old brother to bed.
helpful and friendly
Good breakfast. Pool
The pool and breakfast
The room was "past its best" and not that clean.
The hotel needs a good maintance. The walls needs to be
painted/wall paper changed. The maitress of my bed was awful with a
big hole in the midle.
Comfortable room & beds. Decent-size car park
Breakfast: was a menu rather than serve-yourself buffet, and it wasn't especially nice
