Room was a fair size with Tea & Coffee facilities available in room. Refreshment top up's at reception readily available and great idea.
Good location, room (25) was situated at side of hotel so no road noise. Pleasant 15 min stroll into centre of York with a few restaurants en route if preferred.
Staff extremely pleasant, especially Chris on Reception desk - cheeky Yorkshire chappy with welcoming manner.
Very comfortable hotel and friendly staff.
The hospitality and the food were excellent!
The staff where friendly and the service was great, thanks to chris for
the upgraded room.hotel was small but all the facilities where what you
would need,we would have stayed longer but they were booked up :(
Nothing will go again
This was present for my son and his wife they said the hotel and staff were lovely
Cant possibly understand when the hotel had only a few guests why they were told on arrival at 2-40pm that their room wasn't ready .This is NOT the way to welcome guests after a fairly long journey,it does not set the right tone
relaxed friendlyatomsphere, very clean, excellent breakfast choice and service.
My only fault would be could only get one channel on tv but this was not a massive problem to me.
The place was clean the staff were welcoming and the
service and quality of the breakfast was excellent
The room was fully furnished
The door entry system was a bit confusing but someone was there to let you in
The friendliness of the staff, nothing was too much, the food and drink was also good quality.
Very friendly staff
Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was served and freshly cooked to your order. No going up to a buffet breakfast. The pool was a good size. Free car parking was a bonus and there was a bus stop practically outside.
Room was very cold - but staff were eager to solve the problem.
rapid access to city center, friendly staff and leisure facilities
Food excellent, staff extremely friendly. Lovely cosy bar and restaurant . Very welcoming
My room was very clean, nicely furnished and well equipped. I enjoyed my breakfasts and evening meal, the food was very well presented, well cooked and served by polite waitresses.
Very friendly and helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Excellent service
traditional and comfortable
Must get a WiFi that works. Having a connection to the internet is important in these times.
Generous room size
with three boys, they all had their own beds
As a family of 5 we were in one room, the boys were in a separate room within our room
Staff were excellent, friendly, helpful
Good size, secure carpark
Pool was clean and excellent facility, especially in poor weather, towels provided
Ensuite was good sized, we have had some tiny ones in the past
We were able to open the windows to control temperature, fresh air
Breakfast was excellent, good choice and flexible
Evening menu provided good options, including kids menu
Staff, breakfast, pool, location
Excellent staff and manager, pool and steam room, bar, relaxation, very friendly and welcoming and good food.
shower not too good
I liked the room, which was very comfortable. I really enjoyed the swimming pool - that's why I stayed at this hotel again. I had the dinner, which was really delicious. The breakfast is good too, with wide choice of dishes. Everyone was very friendly also.
I liked everything.
Great value, very friendly, very clean and well situated for walking to the York attractions.
Very friendly hotel and nothing too much trouble for the staff.
Excellent room, very comfy bed and clean bathroom & shower facilities.Breakfast was very good and lots of choice The hotel is in a peaceful location ( about 15 mins walk into town centre ) and all in all had a very pleasent stay...would go back if visiting York again.
It being an old building it does suffer from the squeeky floorboards syndrome, and also my room had a layer of dust ( on the bedside lamp and table! ) but this is minor and didn't detract from an enjoyable two day stay.
We had no problems. Great location, clean and comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff. Meals were great. Would recommend it. Great parking.
We liked everything about York and the hotel..
Very clean and friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere about the hotel and good city locations.
Staff. Male receptionist Chris was fantastic.
No Fridge in room.
Comfortable, friendly staff, clean swimlming pool, accessible: within ten minutes walk of station
The 1970s retro interior decoration may be an acquired taste for some
Friendly reception, very helpful and attentive staff. Food was really good.
Tree sap on my new Range Rover from trees within the car park.
I liked the staff especially the sleep in manager he was very friendly and had a good chat with me and my partner
The breakfast menu was a a bit minimal but apart from that every thing was fine
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
On a regular bus route and near enough to the City.
Extractor fan in bathroom very noisy.
chris was very helpful, room was clean, tidy and comfortable
Staff were really nice, breakfast was excellent, hotel was very clean, warm and cosy
steam room wasnt steamy, the bathroom was small and should maybe just have had a shower in it and put in kingsize beds it was a double bed too small
I loved the leisure facilities, particularly the swimming pool. The breakfast was lovely also
Nothing I didn't like
hotel was spotless staff very helpful and accommodating, food and service were excellent, chris the manager in particular
dinning room and bar location not suitable if you have walking difficulties as both are located in basement of hotel steep stairs to get to basement
Nice greeting at reception and shown to our room, four poster bed, plenty of tea coffee sachets, friendly staff, quaint bar in cellar, excellent breakfast, friendly staff
Squeaky floorboards in the four poster bedroom
The staff are amazingly friendly and really made us feel welcome. Everyone was cheerful, helpful and all round nice. It felt more like a family hotel than a chain hotel (and I mean that as a positive comment.)
The pool was the perfect temperature and a good depth: it was shallow enough for my 8 year old daughter to touch the bottom, but deep enough for comfortable adult swimming.
The Gym had a good range of machines, and whenever I went there I had them all to myself.
The car park had plenty of space, the WiFi worked flawlessly.
There was a basket of sugar, milk etc.in the reception area to top up supplies if you ran out. The supplies in the room were generous so I never needed the top up, but it was still a welcome touch.
The room was large, it and the the en suite were well cleaned and got fresh linen every day.
Very easy to access York through Mickelgate bar. Close enough to walk, but if you get bored with the walk there is parking near Cliffords tower which is easily accessed from the hotel.
There was a wide choice of food for breakfast and the staff were very willing to produce items that were not on the menu (my daughter asked for a sausage sandwich with ketchup and they didn't blink just rapidly produced what she asked for, I have known many a large chain to refuse this sort of non-standard request).
I have recommended the Best Western Kilima in York to friends and would go again.
Breakfast room/bar is a little dark, being on the ground floor which is built into a hillside and doesn't have windows all around. I think decorating with lighter colours might help this area. However this is a minor criticism, the fast friendly service and good food more than made up for any criticisms on the slightly dark decor.
One of the rooms was right next to the kitchen extractor fan, the noise meant it was impossible to sleep when switched on.
The second room the temperature was extremely high for no apparent reason
Extremely friendly and helpful staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. The evening meal menue is a little short on variety but the meal when served was excellent quality. The service during our stay of two nights was wonderful and I can only say again how excellent the staff are.
There was nothing that either my husband or I could find fault with.
The bathroom in my room desperatley needed updating. The shower was awful but apart from that the room was comfortable and clean and perfectly fine for a one night stay.
staff very very friendly
rooms great size and clean
restaurant very cosy
kids loved the pool
overal a fantastic weekend wish we could of stayed longer. will deffinately come back
there was nothing we did not like about this hotel
location and friendly staff, and a good breakfast
The staff were very welcoming and went out of there way to make us feel valued as a customer. There was a high standard of customer service followed by all staff.
Some parts of the hotel could have done with an update in decor
The staff were very friendly and welcoming
The walk from the car park to the front door with my luggage in the rain up a slippery slope - but I'm sure they would have helped had I asked, so not really a complaint :)
the staff were excellent, location excellent
everything from arrival to departure room food pool staff all excellent
only staying 3 nights
Close proximity to town centre, (easily within walking distance). Leisure facilities which would be a boost during the winter months.Good restaurant within the hotel and friendly staff.
No air-conditioning in rooms and it seemed to take a considerable time for the rooms which weren't being vacated to be serviced (our room wasn't serviced one day till well into late afternoon.
Everything was very good, food could not fault. It was nice to have a refreshing swim after a short stroll into the center of York.
Sorry but the coffee is not the best, the steam room is in need of repair but sure they are aware of that.
the people were great and friendly(especially the manager chris) and the bed was comfy
floorboards were really squeaky
