The breakfast was excellent and the waiter service first class. We found all staff very helpful and there to make our stay enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly be visiting again very soon.

The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful. The room seemed small but there was no edging around furniture, even with the travel cot up.
The bathroom was fancy, no bath but a huge shower and it had obviously been recently refurbished.
Breakfast was great, plenty of choice.
There's also a big park over the road as well, which was great for us as we were there with our baby, who was up long before breakfast every day. It's only a few minutes walk from all the shops in one direction, and

The hotel was in a lovely setting in the select village of Wetheral, close to the city of Carlisle. Lovely walks by the river Eden, just minutes away and lots of history in the nearby St. Constantine's cell and the English Heritage abbey gatehouse. We had room 3 with the 4 poster bed, it was soooooo comfortable! Diane

Everything, obviously the hotels in this area are pretty old but this one was very clean and comfortable was very picturesque. The surrounding area was beautiful. The hotel was on Browness and a perfect position.

The Royal Oak is a great English Inn, the food was excellent, accommodation comfortable and the staff were superb. I felt really at home. The location was superb and I would recommend the hotel to anyone. I will endeavour to stay there every time I visit Bowness on Windermere. Thanks for a great stay.

The breakfast was very good and the standard was consistent all through our 10 night stay. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite was of a good standard.
Overall it was a very nice place to stay particulary as 16 appears to be the maximum number of guests. The staff and owners could give everyone good service as well as finding time to talk to all

Classic Lake district countryside setting. Access to picturesque, easy, 3 mile walk to Conistion Lake through fields and woods. 3 minute walk to beautiful Hawkshead village or 5 minutes through the back of the 14th century church yard. The B&B has a back garden with tables and chairs for an evening glass of wine. Each room has a Fabulous hot shower with pressure that no other English shower system could boast. Great breakfast. Great all round value.

We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

superb food,exellent and very helpfull staff, do not be put off by the price of food its not your regular steak and chips type of thing and its cooked to order! Beautiful rooms that you wanted to spend time in. Lovely old bar that serves excellent food from a great menu.
No need to use your car at all if you want peace,views, walks and good food and drink.
Kerry is an excellent host - nothing's too much trouble.
