Very friendly staff and excellent location. 2mins walk to station, 5 mins walk to bus station. good quality of dinner and breakfast.

Everything was great, the rooms are very good size and the breakfast was very generous, the onsen was great. I highly recommend you to stay in for dinner as everything pretty much shut at 6.
The surrounding are easy to access to restaurant, Train station. The hotel staff are very nice & they care for their customer. The breakfast and Dinner are very yummy!! value for money.

Loved the traditional japanese breakfast and dinner. Our hostess Miyoko was so sweet and provided us a full explanation of each dish. The open air onsen was totally awesome, since we had it all to ourselves!

The staff were very friendly and helpful in that typically impeccable Japanese way. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with tatami mats, futon beds and yukata all making for a very Japanese experience for us as foreigners (Chinese and Australian). The Japanese style breakfast was very interesting too. The onsen facilities on the top floor were also very nice. The hotel is very close to the Hakone-Yumoto station.
No issue with the hotel at all, but if you plan to eat out in Hakone, options are limited and seemed to close quite early, at least when we stayed (September).

The location was fantastic - 2 minute walk from station, but on the river so quiet and peaceful. I was not aware of the baggage service at the station that will take your luggage to any hotel in area so you can easily get to anywhere without worrying about dragging around luggage. Regardless, made getting around very easy and central and nice to have somewhere to walk around in evening. Staff was lovely, 'Onsen' (hot pools) - both private and open - was fantastic open air. Reserving the private Onsen first night to get my teenager daughter comfortable was brilliant and very affordable. Easy email to reserve before we arrived. Dinner was tasty, not the best meal I had in Japan, but definitely lovely experience with presentation and eating in room traditional style.
Breakfast was not gourmet by any means, but we ate light anyway so we go indulge in the Onsen afterwards. The hotel is going through renovations, which would have been nice to know since the room window and Onsen over the river were partially blocked by steel railings.

This hotel was very accessible for train travellers, being only a few minutes walk from the Station. Reception staff had limited English but this did not present any problems and they were very obliging! WiFi available in public areas and rooms.
The Location is great. The staffs there are very friendly though the one that set up our breakfast and futon can't speak English, she tried her best to communicate with us. The staff told us that you could see a fireflies from the room's window, sadly she just told us when we were about to checkout.

The location is fantastic. Close to the train station and our room has a wonderful view of the River. We get a feeling of staying at a traditional Japanese room.
The breakfast is too 'Japanese' for us. The onsen was too hot. Maybe we are just not used to it.
This is a very nice hotel located close to the station Hakone Yumoto. The rooms are Japanes style and dinner/breakfast are served in very tradionally way there. The hotel is an excellent starting point for the round trip to Lake Ashi etc by bus, train and cable car. The private Onsen at the 6. floor is very recommendable (additional charge of YEN 2000). We (age of 55/51) can fully recommend this hotel

Urban ryokan, close to the station and to the river on the other side. From the station there is a train to all the main activities at the area, so the location is great. The staff was very kind and helpful. The onsen is a very nice experience, especially for tourists.
The cuisine is not for everyone, although it is very special and very well made. You should be preperd for the taste of the japanese cuisine.

I certainly recommend this wonderful hotel. Genuine ryokan feel, professional spa services, lovely setting just beside the river and perfect location a few meters away from the Hakone-Yumoto station (from where you arrive from Tokyo and also catch the local train for the famous round trip of Hakone). The staff here are professional, courteous and friendly. Especially, I would like to thank Emiko and her male aide for their fantastic service!
Beautiful roykan, staff were exceptional. The onsen was lovely! We did the private one and also used the shared baths. Once we learnt the Japanese way to bath we really enjoyed it! The hotel is set right against the river and has a lovely view and nice sounds of water. The room was large for Japanese standards. The staff laid out our bed and night and put it away again in the morning, The breakfast was very Japanese and a little bit too fishy for our taste, but very authentic and beautifully laid out on the table in our room in the morning. The stay was a highlight of our trip and the experience of a roykan with onsen is a definate must for anyone visiting Japan!
The hotel name is in Japanese. We walked right past it and didn't find it until we asked a local person. We really enjoyed sleeping on the futon mattresses on the tatami mats, however they are quite hard and the rice pillows were uncomfortable.

This ryokan came in way under budget of other quoted Hotels but because the location was good, and after all I only wanted somewhere to sleep I took a chance. Well somewhere to sleep was what I got + fantastic everything else, this place was a real pleasure, I will return

Adjacent to the train station for transfer to Odawara Station. Close to local shops and restaurants. Spa is relaxing and nicely set-out. Staff very friendly. We tried the traditional Japanese breakfast which was very nice. Free wifi internet in the room. It was great Ryokan experience.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Front desk staff could speak English very well. Location could not be any more convenient-- just 3 minutes walk away from Hakone-yumoto station. Shops are close by. Open-air onsens available for private use upon reservation and are superb. Everything was looked after in detail. Wifi available everywhere in ryokan. Very homely feeling. Wii available in lobby. Fantastic for family, small groups or couples.
The lift was old and a bit slow, but that is hardly an issue at all.

I did not like the tatami smell. My room is facing the stream, it's kind of loud if you open the window. The open air onsen did not provide shampoo and showergel, it's confusing for first time onsen user.

hot springs pool is not satisfied. no more feeling for a bath in hot springs. Wifi signal is very poor in room.
Great way to expose oneself to Japanese culture although at the cost of almost a cultural shock.
1. Outrageously priced for the facilities offered to international traveller. 2. Their room service staff can not speak English and therefore least helpful in understanding how to deal with Japanese food.
Service from the chambermaid serving breakfast and preparing beds was a pleasurable experience. They had no English but made us feel comfortable and welcomed.
Lack of comfort. Difficult to find as sign only in Japanese and not clearly seen from street. Rooms tired.
The hotel has no English name so if you are walking there I suggest you ask the shop around there. It is actually opposite the train station behind the shop lot. All in Chinese and only one staff can speak English.
Very expensive for what it offers. I've been to several cities in Japan and this hotel does not deserves it's qualification. It's ugly and very touristic in it's worst sense.
We like the convenience of its location, very near train station, bus station. Easy to get around with small children. We had a small balcony with direct view over the river which was fantastic. At night the sound of the river was very soothing. Childrens small play area was a nice touch in the lobby.
Traditional fish breakfast was way too traditional, did not really appreciate. Also sleeping on tatami mat and hard pillow took a while to get used to.
