Loved our stay. We live only about 30 mins. north of San Diego and try to stay at the West Gate at least twice a year. It is like being on a vacation even though we are residents. Absolutely love staying downtown. -

Hotel accomodations and staff were outstanding overall. Free parking and
wifi were a huge plus!! Other hotels wanted $45 per day for parking and
$12 per day for internet! Hotel is conveniently located near Coronado,

The location was great. The trolley is just out the door, and they are many shops and restaurants very close by. The staff was great. The room rate ($129) was exceptional, but probably not near the standard rate. Nice new or newly renovated hotel.

This is the best Hotel in the area from what we saw. The view was the best. We started in a "partial view" suite which was more of a full view. I stayed here very recently for six nights while attending a conference downtown. Let me say it was totally worth the extra effort and cost in cabs to get downtown ( half hour by bus, 15 minutes 13 bucks by cab). The staff is friendly, courteous, and professional, from the cleaning staff, valet parking attendants, front desk folks and management. I get the feeling people love their jobs and want to deliver good service to the guests. The bar downstairs is awesome and deserves its own review. On

Everything! I was blown away with the beauty of the lobby! The staff was wonderful, our room was fantastic, (corner king), the food was good (pulled pork was best I've had in ages!), and the views were gorgeous. I loved how close it was to so many areas of SD. The pool area (with the firepits at night!) looked wonderful, but it was so windy so we didn't stay. I also loved the old pictures throughout the hotel. If you are from SD it was particularly super to see them.

We loved that they were pet friendly, but didn't charge a huge fee like most places do. They gave us a pet gift bag with treats and poop pickup bags for our dog along with a list of pet friendly places to eat in walking distance and doggy day camps in the area. We will DEFINITELY be coming back and recommending this hotel to our friends that have pets. Also we loved the gorgeous bathroom and shower!
