In the heart of La Jolla village near everything. Rooms are large and comfortable. Ocean views depending on room location.
The hotel generally could use a bit of updating. No fitness center.
The hotel staff was incredibly gracious and professional in handling the fact that they had overbooked the rooms and needed to place me at a nearby hotel instead. I have 25 yrs in airline customer service so I know what it is like to have to handle an overbooking situation.
I wanted so much to experience a stay at The Empress as I had researched it online in advance and I had never been to La Jolla before. I compared it with all the other hotels and particularly chose The Empress.
