St. Raphael Guest House - Photos
Ce que les gens disent
I informed the owners of my arrival time which was after their cut off, but they were there to greet us with a map of the city and some extra local tips.(other reviews suggest being left stranded by the owners, I would suggest these people didn't inform them of late arrival!) The room was spacious, and the bathroom spotless and highly functional (other reviews report tiny showers but I am a big lady and had NO problems at all! The beds were very comfortable, there was plenty of lighting, a TV,. tous commentaires »
The friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble. The
breakfasts were amazing especially the scrambled egg! It was great to be
able to leave the car parked for our stay and walk to everything. We
also found the information folder very useful. Loved all the photos of
York around the place and Zoe was really helpful with advice on where to
go and places to see. We also loved the smell of the bread baking for
breakfast which we woke up to each morning. My wife and I both enjoyed.
Dominic and Zoë were very friendly and approachable. They obviously took
a great deal of pride in their accommodation, they had an excellent customer-
facing manner, their hotel was immaculate, with just the right mix of
traditional and contemporary, the food was excellent... My wife and I
have nothing but the most glowing feedback from our stay with them. We
would recommend St. Raphael to anybody!.
Very friendly and very helpful staff. Parking permit and keys in an envelope on arrival. Asked for non-feather pillows & duvet after we forgot to mention allergy issues, all waiting for us when we returned after dinner. Lovely breakfast. Close to city centre so no need to drive. Nice and quiet.
Could not fault. My wife and I stayed with our 9 year old son and my parents. Comfortable nights sleep, Quality Breakfast, Just around the corner for Abby and shops. Good safe parking, Very Clean and all delivered with a nice smile. 10/10 keep up the great work.
Location is excellent, only a 5 min walk to the centre but also through a park so a very pleasant walk. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is excellent, WiFi throughout, parking on street but permits organised on request.
Breakfast , especially homemade bread, was fabulous. Staff were very pleasant and very helpful. They were quick to address any requirements. We got the feeling they were dedicated to making the business work. Very nice overall!.
we liked it because it was slightly out of town, so no noise from pub turn out and no traffic noise ,we were able to sleep at night .but able to walk in town for dinner and have a drink so came home refreshed and relaxed.
The owners were friendly helpful and caring . Loved the beautiful flowers everywhere and the attention to detail . It felt like home away from home .Wish we could have stayed longer .
This B&B is located 15 minutes from the train station in a very quiet residential area 2 minutes outside the old city walls,
We were served home made bread every morning.
A lovely B and B with a very friendly homelike atmosphere, a delicious breakfast and a central location, extremely convenient for tourist attractions and the train station.,.
Nice friendly welcome. Lovely bright room and shower room. Excellent breakfast. Ideal for city centre, 10/15 minutes walk to most places with the car staying put. Ideal!.
Zoe was very friendly. Our room was very comfortable. Breakfast with fresh bread was adorable. Breakfast room was light and airey. No problems with car parking either.
Whole experience from being greeted on the Friday until we left Sunday
morning was faultless. Terrific hosts and extremely clean establishment.
Excellent breakfast.
Wonderful stay...great breakfast...close to the city's walls but on a quiet street...convenient to the train station...very friendly proprietor...highly recommended.

excellent breakfast and location.
Our hosts were helpful and friendly. They did a wonderful job making the rooms bright and appealing.
Really fresh bread each morning and ability to make toast when you want it. Friendly staff.
It was a terrific place. There was even parking. The people running it were wonderful.
Location - within walking distance of the city centre. Free street parking provided.
Clean warm room, close to city centre, free parking, great bed, fantastic breakfast.
The best quest house I've staid in for many years. Will definitely go there again.
It was exactly as described and fitted exactly with what we required.

Very Very Clean.
Friendly hosts.
Breakfast was perfectly acceptable and home made bread was welcome.
I liked the fresh baked bread at breakfast, it was very nice.
Hotel was great very friendly staff, and a great breakfast.
There is nothing we did not enjoy about The Raphael.
Nothing. We would strongly recommend to others.
N/a.
Only stayed for one night wish we had booked 2 or 3 nights.
Leaving?.
Bathroom sink was tiny and didn't drain well. Small shelves in bathroom sloped down away from walls, making them somewhat precarious to use.
Just a small shower room .for a family room???.
Nothing.
I can't think of anything bad to say about the place.
No mention of the surcharge using Debit or Credit Card either on the website nor mentioned until payment at end of stay was made. This needs to be addressed quickly.
N/a as liked everything.
No negatives.
nothing.
Could do with a sheet as well as the quilt. The Quilt was just to hot. But a sheet was provided the next day.
Internet reception very poor in the room but accessible in the dining area.
The room was a bit small and no room even for a small desk.
Being greeted by notice that we might have to fetch key from a different address. Being told not to leave a voicemail when calling as answerphone scratchy.
A bit overpriced for what it is.
Nothing.
There were no downsides to the St. Raphael. Everything had been thought of and everything was done well.
N/A.
There was nothing to dislike.
Nothing.
breakfast time is too short.
No sitting area other than bedroom. On hte second morining we had to
leave early and there was no one available to offer a cup of tea or
anything to eat.
the size of the room-too small - but that is what you get in B & Bs in UK.
No extra facilities
No staff avgailable on arrival
Parking okaywhen you understand it.
Odour in the room, thought the room would benefit from some talc, room door left open by cleaners and shower gel gone. Expected a bit more because we stay in york on a regular basis and stayed in many b and bs and this was the most expensive, with little difference.
No-one available to greet on arrival, saw no staff till next day; bed hard beyond belief and neither of us could get any sleep in it; street lamp on outside window all night shining through thin cream curtains; entrance hall has stained carpet which gives poor initial first impression; note in bedroom required payment in cash or you face debit card surcharge not previously notified on booking!.
The decor was quite dated. The room was advertised as a king room with
fresh flowers, it was the size of a small/average double and the
fresh flowers was actually one flower that had seen better days! I
didn't feel it was value for money or as good as it was advertised
as being.we were very dissapointed and wouldn't stay there again.
