  This place has a very relaxed laid back approach and if you need any help everyone is friendly and informative enough. The location itself is very central and the bus from the airport shuttle bus drops you right behind their street. At a perfect spot in “Edinburgh new town”, in the middle of shopping and restaurant areas. The building originally from early 19th century is well preserved and nicely taken to the 21st. The top floor stairs is old and torn but so full of charms. Nice rooms in harmony with building, furniture and facilities. Run by friendly owners and an adorable old cat watching the lounge. Good WI-FI. Breakfast is served at neighbouring Rick’s Hotel, really good.

  The owners are totally committed to providing a quality experience to their guests. It seems a range of languages are spoken and there were many Continental European guests though all are welcome. The location is excellent with very regular buses taking you to the city centre and sights. Good breakfast with self serving coffe/tea, juice, cereal and yogurt. I had scrable eggs on toast, but you can get a full Scottish breakfast. Staff very friendly. I'd like to stay longer to interact with them. Definitely I'll came again.

  This b&b is excellent in every way. The Georgian home is most welcoming, and is as elegantly decorated as it is comfortable. The breakfast menu is as varied as you would find in the best hotel, and is beautifully presented by a pleasant staff. This will be my "Edinburgh home". - The room was well stocked with complimentary bottles of water every day. A lovely china tea service with a selection of teas and shortbread cookies as well as chocolates were in the room every day. The soaps and shampoo were ample and well stocked. The bed, couch and chairs were very comfortable and the room was large and had beautiful big windows. It is also situated in a lovely quiet area with access to private gardens nearby.

  All our stay was perfect. The bedroom was just like the one in the pictures. Very clean and comfy. Great double bed. Perfect with tea/coffee/chocolate facilities in the room. Double glass window. Dark and thick curtain to get the room dark at night. The road workers arrived around 7.30 in the morning but we were already preparing us for breakfast (monday to frida - The Elder York Guest House is a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh! The location is excellent, walking distance to all attractions. There are road works going on, but these won't interrupt your stay and should be over soon. We were greeted on arrival in a friendly way and shown our very clean and spacious room, with bathroom ensuite. Our host offered an excellent recommendation for a pub for dinner.
