Royal Oak at Keswick - A Thwaites Inn of Character - Photos
Ce que les gens disent
I very much liked the friendliness of the staff. All were polite, helpful and welcoming.
After a very long walk one morning, I arrived back at the hotel half an hour after breakfast ended, but even so, the chef was more than happy to make me some food - I really appreciated it.
Evening food was excellent, and I liked the relaxed atmosphere of the pub.
A great idea to give a flask of ' real ' milk in the room with the tea tray !
Many thanks for a very pleasant stay. tous commentaires »
The staff, who were friendly and helpful.
The food, which was so good I didn't bother going anywhere else for dinner.
The heated towel rack in the bathroom, which meant all my wet things dried!
The location in Keswick, which is ideal for a non-driver.
General comment: I spent 12 nights there and couldn't have been happier.
Very friendly place to stay. Staff very polite with good customer service. Good food, would recommend the full breakfast and the lamb hot pot - delicious. Dog friendly rooms available. Keswick is a very beautiful place with a great mixture of mountain walks and shops. Some thing for every one. Can't wait to go back .
Only live a short distance from Keswick, decided on a last minute stay. All staff we met were very pleasant, friendly and helpful, had a small double room, which had everything we needed including a fan. Hotel and room clean, breakfast was good and plentiful, enjoyed a relaxing stay, will definitely be staying again.
The atmosphere of The Inn was very welcoming and you instantly felt at
home while there. The staff who greated us and said goodbye on reception
were excellent The location for us was perfect as it was close to all
the things we required, strolls, market, other inns and eating places.
1. Location was excellent! In the middle of everything so we didn't even need the car at all. Free street parking nearby if u arrive by 5pm.
2. Very clean and modern bathroom facilities.
3. Breakfast was plenty, both continental and full English breakfast!.
I have stayed here a long time ago when it was Keswick Lodge. We found everything to be of a high standard. The room was described as a small double by the website. It was ample size. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay again!.
The staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. very cosy rooms, close to the city centre. animal friendly. the Inn also has the nicest meals in Keswick and we particularly liked the Amstel beer they served.
The location of the Inn was great for shopping, sight seeing, and pub crawling. Staff was very attentive and breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The room was comfortable with very good amenities.
very old, but cozy. you can get away with being slightly shabby if you've got a historic feel. Inn at Keswick is an interesting, little, historic place right in the center on Keswick.
The service was excellent on the phone and face to face. Personal service throughout and the staff were very good with helping me with my bags as I was travelling with a two year old.
Very pleasant welcome, friendly staff. Very comfortable room and fully equipped and very quiet; best night's sleep we've ever had in a hotel. Excellent cooked breakfast.
Wonderful reception and friendly, helpful staff.
Comfortable room, amazing food (loved the lamb hot pot and the eggs benedict!) and fast wifi in the restaurant area.
We really enjoyed our second stay in the Keswick inn, food excellent, with a good choice of ales and wine and so welcoming to dogs. Definitely will be going again.
most things great, staff friendly and accommodating, good food
very clean, our group of 10 was ttreated really well nothing was to much bother for the staff.
Welcoming, centre of small country town, good food, good atmosphere, all-round success. Borrowdale has to be the prettiest spot in the world on a good day.
The room was small but cozy, everything was really clean and neat. The staff were great and really helpful! The location of the Inn is amazing for Keswick.
Very welcoming - friendly staff, delicious food. Would definitely stay here again, right in the centre of town. Alround good atmosphere.
The position in Keswick is excellent and close to shops and bus station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Decaf available by request.
The evening staff and the receptionist were very polite and helpful.
Location was perfect for a boozy weekend in the lakes for a couple.
We liked everything....was excellent service compar to money we spend...it was far batter than we expected...well done ppl at the inn.
We took our dog, the room we was booked into did not fit his cage. They
kindly moved us to a larger room. Very helpful staff.
The staff was really nice, and the breakfast was lovely. Comparing prices in the area it was a good value for our money.
Great friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, quiet room. Good pub downstairs. Good location . Would stay again.
A good base for the lakes and close to facilities in the town. Comfy warm rooms and bar area. Good choice of ales.

The hotel room was modern, comfortable bed, good bathroom and flat screen TV. Location was amazing.
Everything apart from what's in the "What didn't you like" Box.
Overall it's a great place to stay.
very impressive and nice breakfast with lots of options.very lovely view from room No.6.Kind staff.

Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Flask of fresh milk for the room was a nice touch.
Staff were friendly, the room was lovely and the town center location was excellent.
Ideal location.
Food excellent.
Friendly staff.
Early check-in.
Great atmoshpere.
All staff were friendly and helpful. Comfortable atmosphere. Good food and beer.
Great food, very honest cooking. Also love the coffee bag provided in the room.
Situated in centre of Keswick. Modern, stylish, clean room with en suite.
Location. Very comfortable bed. Clean room. great country pub atmosphere.
very gererous beverage selection in room, good wi-fi and excellent ales.
Friendliness of the staff. Cleanliness of the rooms and comfy beds.
I could have used more drawer space.
Nothing, great holiday.
I didn't feel the breakfast staff matched the standard of the other
staff, E.G. while I was walking around the buffet to get my cereals etc
the waiter came up to me to ask if I wanted tea, coffee, toast etc, I am
sure it would have been far better had he just waited until I sat down,
its only a little thing but its those that make the difference but all
in all very good, would go again.
1. As traveling young couples, we didn't like that the 'double' bedroom was actually 2 twin beds joined together. Bed was stiff and a little sunken too.
2. We had a luggage with us and we had to put it by the window or else there wouldn't be any walking space.
our room was slightly too hot and we spoke to the staff about this, we were given a substantial reduction in rate which I thought was very very hospitable. I was very happy with this.
a bit pricey.
Nothing comes to mind.
Lack of wifi connectivity in bedroom.
Difficulty parking.
Pros far outweigh the conns and I would love to return!.
a couple of rooms for my group were a little on the small side and 2 adults moving about at the same time was like doing a shuffle dance.
Very small room, no drawers at all.
Towel rail didn't work which woul mean clean towels if staying for more than 1 day.
Morning breakfast staff came across less interested in the guests.
Nothing..
The internet didn't have good coverage, and we couldn't use it in our rooms (downstairs it worked great). It was kind of old, some things good old (vintage-like kind of feeling) other just plain old (floors were in bad shape). Noisy in the morning (woken by street sounds).
bed a bit hard.
Breakfast could have been a bit warmer, and the waitress forgot my eggs both mornings.
Minor - difficulty in parking (but that is the nature of Keswick!) and unable to connect to wifi in bedroom (not essential).
No parking however realise it would be difficult and we parked on the Heads.
The only slightly negative comment I'd have - and it's very subjective anyway - is that the music in the bar didn't seem altogether appropriate to what otherwise seemed to be a traditional, cosy place serving a range of excellent cask ales. It was a little loud and a bit too electronic for what seems right in such a place.
The shower area was suffering from mildew in the widow sill and in the tile groutings. A better extractor fan would sort this out almost instantly (as well as cleaning the mildew off).
The "Saniflow" type toilet pump in the room above us was very noisey when it was activated.
Room No.1 is a bit hot in Summer.
The only draw back is a lack of parking but that is a trade off with the perfect location.
nothing to dislike .
Had to move rooms due to a shower that was barely more than a trickle and cold (shower door also broken).
Knew the room was small when we booked and were not disappointed with the size. However we were not warned that we were directly above the kitchen fan which hummed very loudly until quite late which was not relaxing! So loud we couldn't hear the tv!.
They don't have a car park.
Bar prices - £18.00 for bottle of Prosecco very expensive.
Lack of parking - we have stayed at other hotels that provide tickets to go in the main carparks in Keswick.
Nothing.
A bit too warm in the room.
The room was extremely and uncomfortably hot. A fan was provided but the noise of this kept us awake. A very poor night sleep.
Reception area a bit grubby and could do with an upgrade as first impressions not good.
As it's right on the main street there was noise from the bin trucks on the Monday morning at 7am.
