Mie Sumi (the lady at the ryokan) was very helpful in everything, including making reservation for bus ride to Takayama.
My wife and I also made full use of the free bicycles in our exploration of the main sights in lovely Kanazawa. In our views, cycling is the best way to experience the city, especially when you have limited time.

The family running it are extremely helpful and kind. Our one dinner and three breakfasts were plentiful and good quality traditional Japanese. Our room with private toilet was spacious and quiet. Even with three mattresses I still found the bed hard but wanted to experience the traditional ryokan. I would recommend it for being near shops and many places of interest.

Rooms were very clean and spacious (deluxe twin room). Rooms are also all above 18th floor, ours had a nice view of the city.

we've had and we've had many. Clean rooms with Western style
bathrooms. We were upgraded, and the bathroom was actually luxurious.

Set right in the middle of the Geisha district (a good thing as all the buildings are traditional and pretty). This is a unique chance to experience Japanese hospitality at its simplest best. No frills but the real thing: tatami rooms, futon beds, common ofuro. While the owner understands enough English to deal with her guests, she appreciates it when the latter make an effort to utter a few words in Japanese. Had the place not been fully booked, I would gladly have spent a week there, in the middle of the eastern geisha district. Am looking forward to my next visit! I almost forgot to mention the rate:
