EVERYTHING!! the cottage was extremely quaint, peaceful and private. it felt very homey and comfortable. landscape surrounding the cottages was quite magical. though it's near the main road, it wasn't noisy. the gardens were lush and green. Dixon the cat has his own beautiful resting place and Mr Webber, duck is his refreshing replacement : ) the staff are all very friendly and responded to our needs well : ). kaikki arvostelut »
We loved the quaint cottage experience. Its design fit perfectly into
its location among the rainforest. The staff delivered breakfast the day
before...fresh bread, fruit, and juice. Perfect start to the day! Its a
quick drive to Volcanoes State Park which was perfect for our plans.
A lot of charm and personality, nothing else like it. Super cute
cottage, love the layout. The spa tub overlooking the purple flowers was
exactly what was needed after visiting the volcano which is just a few
minutes drive. Great grounds, Micheal was very friendly.
This is a beautiful setting. It is very quiet and peaceful. There were fresh papaya, banana's and bread available in our room for breakfast. This was exactly the setting and experience that we were looking for. The cottage is close to the National Park.
A very cozy cottage with an excellent location right at the edge of
Volcano national Park. The breakfast left in the fridge and the kitchen
counter were very nice touches. The fireplace kept the bedroom warm.
Michael was very welcoming and helpful.
The room was beautiful as was the setting of the whole property. We were made to feel very welcome and really enjoyed our time. If visiting the national park, it is very close and therefore easy to pop in and out of the park when it suits you.
The location is brilliant and the rainforest setting beautiful. Very convenient to the National Park and Volcano village. The fireplace and fresh complimentary breakfast was lovely too. Great place for a quiet getaway. Nice staff also!.
The ambience was fabulous.
Michael was lovely. The attention to detail was great. The grounds were beautiful. The room was quaint - very tasteful cottage.
We enjoyed everything about our stay and would come back again.
Small, quiet, beautiful. Friendly staff.
Feels like home, but nicer.
One mile from Volcano. National Park.
Your $10 entrance fee to the Park is god for one week. Stay overnight and explore the park on foot.
Beautifully appointed historic rooms in lovely grounds, minutes from Volcanoes National Park. Homemade bread and fruit for breakfast was wonderful. Mike the owner was very helpful in suggesting what to see.
The Lehau cottage was cozy and stayed warm. I liked the view from inside
and outside the cabin. Perfect location to get in and out of the
National Park and local restaurants.Thank you for the hospitality!.
Excellent location, very close to Volcanoes National Park and the village. Serene and quiet surroundings. Beautiful cottages/suites. Very helpful and friendly owner and staff.
The owner was really nice and recommended a great local restaurant for our evening meal
And he gave us great ideas of what to do in the area (volcanoes etc).
Closed to the Volcano area, in a fab location: different cottages in Japanese atmosphere.
Cosy and yes, romantic ;-)
Highly raccomanded, for a special treat.
Hale Ohia Cottages are set in a beautiful rain forest just a few minutes away from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The cottages are charming and unique.
Delicious & adequate Breakfast provided night before & was part of pkg. Very clean and quiet. Very convenient to Volcano Nat'l Park & Hilo.
Unique property. Formerly an artist's retreat, now a b&b right outside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Lovely, quiet and comfortable.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We found the bed and Master
Suite to be very comfortable and suitable for our purposes.
Hale Ohia Cottages was wonderful! It was calm and peaceful, and the proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was perfect.
The fireplace in our cottage and the beautiful gardens. The location, 2
miles only from the Volcano National Park.
The cottages were wonderful. Breakfast provided in the cottage was great. We loved the beautiful setting.
Great Place, I would stay there again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone.
Wonderful cottages, very scenic ambience. Also great service with very nice breakfast.
Very quiet, close to the volcano which is what we were there to see. Very romantic.
Loved the house, the cabins, and the personality of the place.
Beautiful inside and out. Very clean, private, good bed.
sweet cottage feel in the woods.
Very good location, close to volcanoes and village. Beautiful cottages and nice, quiet and peaceful environment.
The staff were very friendly and helpful; and the property is a lovely old homestead with well tended gardens.
The location was great for visiting Volcano National Park.
The place was very charming.
Like a garden of eden. Very nice place. Close to Volcano national park.
Location and privacy were perfect for us.
Close to the volcano NP.
It was clean.
The gardens were well manicured, nicely laid out. Location to Volcano was excellent.
We having nothing bad to say about our Hale Ohia visit. I will only say
this is not a 'resort' so do not expect a big flat screen tv, a
large pool, or a bar that is open until 2 am. Enjoy the quiet beautiful
surroundings and your company!.
The breakfast was a little sub par. You will get a pound cake and a
papaya. If your looking for foody paradise this is not it.
Very narrow shower in Cottage #2, but that is the nature of an
older cottage.
Although the property is kept in very clean and neat condition, it does require some maintenance - there is some minor water damage in the bathroom which requires some attention and some of the furniture is not in great condition. Some of the fittings are also damaged.
Need less transparent blinds on the windows in the Master Suite to keep the sunshine from waking us up.
Would have liked one more pillow, softer pillow, small microwave could
be helpful. Breakfast was a nice touch but allergy to papaya and lactose
free diet, I hated to waste food. (Although-great loaf of bread!.
Breakfast very limited, but that is not why you choose to stay at Hale Ohia. There is a great place for breakfast or brunch close by.
Breakfast was basic.
It's a (lovely) b&b: not much to choose around for dinner. Late check-in upon request.
We checked in late so didn't have the advantage of talking with Mike about how the fireplace works. Consequently, we were a bit cold in the morning. We slept warm in the bed, however.
The bed mattress in Lehua Cottage was very hard. Either provide new mattress or put thick foam topper on it.
The breakfast was unexpectedly light (fruit, juice and a banana loaf)
and to be eaten in our room. All the B&Bs we've been to in the
past (lots) we've had a full breakfast served in a dining room with
the other guests. This was a bit disappointing. Also, there was no milk
for morning tea, only cream, so we ended up having to go out.
Same breakfast every morning.
No T.V but that wasn't too bad we were hardly in the room.
Minor maintenance on loose door handles, loose faucet handles and sluggish toilet.
Very damp. Our clothes got damp in rain and never really dried out.
Breakfast is too limited. Although it is understandable, but still too limited. The curtain needs to improve. At very early morning, the room is too bright to have more sleep.
There isn't any sound insulation, so you can hear everything in every room in the main house.
We stayed in the master suite, which is attached to the main house. It was very musty smelling. The windows in the bedroom didn't have any screens, so at night bugs would come and visit. It would also make it easy for anyone to reach into your room.
Quite damp even with heater. We were there at the end of november and temperature was around 65F at night.
Each personal interaction with Hale Ohia staff made us feel as though we were intruders rather than guests. We're frequent travelers who know the difference.
We don't have any complaints.
It was cold. No curtains to block out the morning light. Looked much better on the www.
The cottage was very basic. Had problems with Wi-FI connection, instructions poor until we meet with staff member working at nearby lodge where we dined. No onsite manager after 5pm. No air condition unit as described on website. Breakfast was minimial, one piece fruit and banana bread. Topped up with yoghurt on the second morning when we
mentioned to staff member. The cottage needs a makeover. The shabby curtains did not cover the windows to allow privacy.
