The location is a ten minute walk to the centre of York and permits are provided to enable you to park outside the hotel. We had a downstairs bedroom with en-suite very comfortable and because the Farthings is situated in a quiet street this was a benefit of having a good nights sleep. The staff were very friendly and and were helpful in giving local information. The cleanliness of the rooms are spot on and they provided a wonderful menu for breakfast, we would definatley recommend this gem of a hotel.

The extra bed which was the pull out bed was not comfortable (extremely uncomfortable). We also wish that internet was available in our room.

Helen was a lovely hostess and very helpful. Her place is very relaxed and friendly. We had nice chats with others at breakfasts( loved the kippers). It's only a short walk to town so we parked the car and enjoyed the walk. York is a wonderful place and I look forward to returning because there is so much I did not get to see and do this trip.
On-street parking pass for drivers, but well within walking distance of York city centre for an evening meal. Plenty to see and do for all the family in York and the locality. Delicious fresh fruit salad for breakfast as well as a good selection of other breakfast choices. Makes good use of local produce. Quick to fix a problem that would not have been spotted on normal room check.
They have pets, but we didn't catch sight of them!

Best breakfasts compared with other B & B's on our 18 day trip. Clean, free wifi, street parking with pass from Helen, outstanding staff, quiet room, and location is a 5 minute walk to the wall.

The room decor was a little dated, but that is not very important.
The staff/owners were great, really friendly and very informative... the room was well equipped with shower and toilet etc and was very clean, bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were good and television was well sized. Breakfast was great and the dining room was well set out providing a friendly atmosphere. B&B was well situated for the train station and for York centre just a short walk away and was in a lovely area. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting York.

Warm and friendly, close to York Centre, food excellent,we had top floor room which was very cosy n warm, shared bathroom wasn't a problem very clean. Helen Kevin and Rosheen made us very welcome we will definitely be returning.

Sharing the toilet was problematic, a few times we had to wait a while. I could not say the waitress/housekeeper was pleasant. Damp smell in hall & plug ins were used to mask smell. Big dog and a cat in there & this put my partner off the breakfast as they were in the vicinity. Previous reviews stated a 10 minute walk from city centre I would say double that!
