The staff were very friendly, also, brilliant value for money , my friend and i would definately stay here again, it cannot be beaten for value, and ideal for shopping in York.
It was perfectly warm, central heating did not leave us cold. The tv was generous in size and had the usual channels. The owner/ landlord was very nice, and even offered to bring us a little more food when we were late for breakfast.
Be cautious, on this site it says check out before 10:30, in actual fact it is 10:00. Some of the utensils were a little dirty, but that was easily solved by washing them again, probably due to the last people to stay in the cottage.
Hospitality was welcoming. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. The hotel had live entertainment and a good choice of beverages. Ideally situated for 10 mins. walk to city centre. Excellent choice for breakfast. Well worth the price paid !!
No facility for credit/debit card payment. Indian restaurant attached to hotel but no bar meals or other food offered.

Staff were very friendly, had a great stay, we stayed in the 2 bed cottage and it is fab for a break away.

i was pleasantly surprised considering they were unfounded bad reviews about the place which wasn't fair i enjoyed my stay as did my friend room was clean and comfortable and above a pub which was very convenient enjoyed ourselves a lot would return
only drawback bit out of the way out of town centre but you can't have everything and no soap in the bathroom but v minor errors

Comfy beds
The cottage was perfect for our wkend stay
it was literally 10 minutes to York castle walls on a lovely street lined with loads of beautiful properties. It was cheap with a hot shower, television, tea and coffee and best of all a FREE car parking space. staff were friendly.

Large rooms, comfortable beds. Coffee n tea making. Friendly staff, short walk into York or bus out side. Very quiet when we stayed, end of August even though all rooms full.
Few spiders in the room. Could have done with a shelf in the bathroom and a towel rail. There was no where to put toothbrushes, toiletries etc and the bath towels had to be hung over the sofa as there was nowhere else to put them.
Helpful friendly staff, great location only a ten minute walk into the centre of York, our room was comfortable and clean.

Terrey was very friendly and accommodating with the car. Breakfast was good. Location excellent for access to City. Good shower and wifi.

All the family thought it was very friendly , but we did expect to see a ghost or two due to the age of the building,the kids thought the stay was ace and lived staying in the attic , spot on

friendly people , good beer , cheap good accomadation , after reading some of negative reports was bit dubious , but we couldnt find anything wrong . the smell of the restraunt was unnoticable , the room was good , nothing falling apart as had been reported , we would definatley stop there again

Shower was not very good in our room it just dripped out and had no presser.
It was close to city centre, about 15 minutes walk. Cute little room with a comfy bed. Not a lot of frills, but didn't feel like anything I needed was really lacking. Had a cozy inn kind of feel to it. The staff was very nice and let us keep our car in the car park after we checked out so we could wander the city a bit.

Good value, especially with the included breakfast. Staff were friendly and very helpful. A handy location with some parking and just a 10 minute walk into the city centre, the walled section of the old town and the Shambles.
Unfortunately you can't help the inconsideration of other patrons who came up stairs in rowdy groups making as much noise as they pleased including slamming doors. Didn't get much sleep after being woken again at 1.30pm.
Amazing value for money, clean comfy room great nights sleep. Although its a small room it was sufficent with a "walk in" wardrobe.
The decor through out was very worn E.G the carpet was worn out and the bedding had seen better days, but for me this added to the oldy worldy pub feel.

it was a good city centre setting the staff were warm and welcoming a traditional british pub b and b. the cost was very reasonable and they provided a good continental breakfast
The pub had very creaky floorboards but this is a very old building and to be expected.

The attached Public House had character in keeping with the building and surroundings and English Tradition. it is not 5 star but we didn't expect it to be. it was clean and breakfast was excellent.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and its only a short walk into york.
The room was very small and the bed rather 'lumpy' but we were only there for one night so it wasnt too bad
