This is a superb place-truly deserves 4 starts. The design is chic and contemporary, yet very comfortable and well thought through to each detail. Well organised in terms of booking a breakfast ( which was great) and very useful guide book with recommendations ( which helped us to find a good restaurant). The beds very comfortable too, our family room was spacious and well equipped. The owners extremely helpful, we made a mistake in our booking and they very happy to sort out on a short notice.

Fresh fruit bowl laid out for late night snack in dining room. Bottled water, coffee/herbal teas in room, huge breakfast with veggie fry up option, fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, fruit juice, cereals, proper cafetiere strong coffee. I love it when you go to a place that doesn't cut corners. everything's carefully figured out to make you stay comfortable . This was our first visit and on arrival we received the warmest welcome we have ever had from any B&B or Hotel. The hotel is spotless and the décor gives it a touch of class. Nothing is too much trouble for either Andrew or Stephen and you are instantly at home. As for the breakfast it is cooked to order and is excellent in all ways. We loved it here so much so that we booked again there and then. Thoroughly recommended. Trevor and Anne Ballantine, Eastleigh. Beds are clean and very comfortable. Rooms well equipped. Ensuite bathrooms are spotless and well stocked. Extremely good value for money. Although only a BnB it easily rivals or is on par with larger hotels. I liked the excellent service, the cleanliness of the room, the breakfasts which were cooked to order. The friendliness of the staff, the good quality tea, coffee, etc provided in the room. The hotel was within walking distance of the beach, tourist information office and restaurants. I would definitely recommend to others. Elegant monochrome decor throughout, exemplary cleanliness, friendly welcome, good breakfast choices, sea-front half a minute away, comfortable room with facilities little different from more pretentious hotels we have stayed in before. All these things make the Metropolitan practically faultless. The Metropolitan is very close to the sea front. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. The decor was modern. It was very clean. The breakfast was generous with a choice of full english, cereals and fruit, with plenty of toast and great value. I would definitely recommend to others. The room was spotless, beds comfortable and two fab cup cakes were very welcome after completing the C2C. Great hospitality and service, great breakfast selection - no need to eat for the rest of the day! Stylish decor and great chilled vibe/ ambience to the Metropolitan. Second visit and there will hopefully e a third. Big room, great breakfast freshly cooked for you as in a restaurant, clean and modern place, friendly staff, good price/value, quiet place. I imagine in summer it has to be a great place to stay next to the coast. The staff were so friendly upgrading our family room to two rooms for no extra charge. We were given a plentiful breakfast with extras and they even posted on a pair of earrings that were left behind!. The room was beautifully co-ordinated and the breakfast was excellent. The Metropolitan is well situated for restaurants and the beach. The complimentary cupcakes in the room were a very nice touch. Very friendly welcome. I have stayed in a few of the lodges in whitley visiting friends. This is by far the best I have stayed in and we have booked ourselfs in next week again staying there. The shower room was rather small BUT absolutely clean with a range of good toiletries provided. Wifi reception was a bit erratic. These are unimportant niggles in the bigger picture. Very small shower room but adequate. Poor wifi connection in room. Nothing. The shower wasn't really high pressure and the controller wasn't easy to use, either it boiled or turned cold. I wouldn't change anything, will definately visit again, highly recommend staying here. Minor points only: Being used to a hard bed, we found this one to be too soft, and as I am over 6ft tall, a little too short. The sink in the bathroom was very small. The decor wasn't to our taste - modern and monochrome - however it is clean and bright, and others will probably love it!. Nothing, have stayed in many hotels and this is top class. I was lucky to be able to park my car on the small driveway (only suitable for two cars). I could perhaps see parking as a potential problem for future stays. N/A. nothing. space around toilet and wash basin rather cramped in the room we had. Would have liked a blind or something at the window in room 2 as it looks straight into neighbouring property!. En suite shower room was small but sufficent. Only way it could be improved was if they had Sky TV. Nothing. Internet access was a problem in the upper story room. None. Nothing. there was no view I was looking at walls, and room particularly small. I thought Whitley Bay would be more rural than it actually was...more countryside. It is actually a Town 15 minutes outside of Newcastle which in itself is great and access is fast but it didn't meet my seaside out in the country needs unfortunately...and also it was february and snowing. No one can help that!. We had a very small family room where we really had to step over each other. Very cramped in the bathroom, there was a shelf by the loo which you knocked yourself on. Very thin walls - arrhhhhhh. On a busy street so a little noisy early on the morning. Couldn't stay for longer.
