Fernbank offers superb bed and breakfast accommodation. This intimate property has its own indoor swimming pool set in sub-tropical gardens, as well as a daytime snack menu and licensed bar. With on-site parking, it is just a 10-minute walk from the Shanklin's cliff tops and beach. Each bright and airy room comes decorated in neutral cream tones with en suite bathroom facilities. All rooms include a TV, tea/coffee-making facilities and access to free Wi-Fi. Locally sourced ingredients go into Fernbank’s freshly cooked breakfasts. These are served in the Garden Room with panorama windows looking out onto the gardens. At the foot of Saint Martin’s Down, guests can be rambling the Isle of Wight’s gently rolling countryside within 5 minutes’ walk. The property is located on the edge of Shanklin, however the High Street and its shops, bars and restaurants are only a few minutes’ walk away. Shanklin Railway Station links the town to Ryde, from where regular ferries set off to mainland England.

I cannot praise the Fernbank enough. The owner could not have been more helpful or hospitable. The hotel is beautifully decorated cared for. The public areas were very relaxing to sit in. The room I stayed in was spotless and very comfortable. Although I did not use the pool it was very inviting. Breakfast is served in an airy and light conservatory and there is an extensive choice of continental breakfast followed by a personally cooked hot breakfast. The Hotel was furnished well and very comfortable, lovely gardens to relax in if the weather was good and a very nice heated indoor pool. Breakfast was excellent with a big choice and plenty of it. The Fernbank delivers a high quality of service and comfort and we would certainly go back. The cleanliness and sense of luxury hit you from the minute you walk in. Staff are friendly extremely efficient and helpful. Breakfast was stunning in its taste, quality, choice, presentation and relaxing beautiful surroundings. Uninviting swimming pool area which was main reason for choosing this hotel - absolutely nothing other than pool. No chairs, loungers. Sadly as the rooms were in an older property, they were incredibly warm (we were staying there in a heat wave), the hoteliers very kindly provided fans, but sadly these only circulated the warm air. Walls were a bit thin between rooms - could hear conversations and tv from rooms on either side. Nothing at all!. the only drawback is that you have to hire pool towels (however at £1 a towel, its very reasonable). Nothing to dislike. There was nothing not to like. nothing to dislike. nothing we did not like. Nothing. Didn't have time to use the pool! :) Thought 8.30am a little early to clean our room but staff happy to come back. Position of TV in room. Shower not fixed at high level. bed slightly hard. No real negatives to report.
