  Excellent room - bright, spacious, attractive decor, very well furnished and equipped including large tv. Very good en suite the size of our bathroom at home! Very friendly and helpful staff. We were shown to our room, which doesn't always happen elsewhere.The cream teas looked delicious and good value. Very go - We got this as a late deal which made it great value. Unsure what normal price would be but large comfortable rooms in a beautiful historic building with great facilities. The evening meal was superb probably one of the most enjoyable meals we've ever had. Was here whilst on business so was a very brief stay but would have loved to have been there for the weekend.

We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

  The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful. The bar was cosy and the food good and big portions! The room was warm and comfortable. - I couldn't fault anything & the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food they serve was excellent and I would definitely stay there again.

  We stayed in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. So clean and well maintained, just lovely. We arrived extremely late (00.10) but were greeted with a warm, friendly smile by Steve who was so attentive. He showed us around and made sure we were settled and he couldnt of been nicer if he tried. It is only a 5 - 10 minute drive to Scafells so great location for walking which is why we were staying there. O - A real gem. Top quality accommodation at reasonable prices. Large well appointed rooms in a stunning location. A pleasure to find an establishment of this standard that serves good honest pub grub at reasonable prices - just what you need when climbing the hills. Good to see a hotel supporting local real ale brewers not not just the usual 'fizz' that most hotels offer. Food and drink prices all very reasonable, nice not to have a shock when paying the food and bar bill. Staff all very friendly
