The staff at the Boars Head were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was shown to my room rather than have it pointed out to me, which I thought was a nice touch. I changed room after the first night as I prefer access to a shower as well as a bath; they immediately moved me with no question. The beds in all the rooms are very large; the first room had a queen sized bed,the subsequent room king size and as a single traveller used to being put in what usually passes as a cupboard, I was amaz.

Have stayed in many top hotels and the attention to detail in The Boars Head is excellent! On arriving home I realised I had left my phone charger in the hotel room,and after speaking to the receptionist,my charger arrived through the post 2 days later.Excellent service!. Excellent service and amazing value of money! The rooms are very clean and well equipped - the location close to Harrogate is great for business/conferences without having the noise of the town. The proximity to the castle and free tickets are a welcome surprise. The food is very ‘gastro-pub’ and has options for everyone, with good beer like Black Sheep on tap.... can’t believe the Eggs Benedict for breakfast – a must have. The Hotel, staff and food were very good. The trip around Castle very informative and the guide had a nice touch of humour. Our stay was quite short but all that we saw we enjoyed starting with breakfast. The Hotel was warm as was the Church and Castle. The Gift shop and Cafe also deserve a good mention. In better weather the Hotel was an ideal springboard for other interesting places, Fountains Abbey etc. The setting of this hotel is excellent. Located in the village of Ripley in North Yorkshire you can wander around the castle and gardens, walk in the unspoiled countryside then relax over a pint and a decent meal in the restaurant or bar before retiring to your room. This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. An excellent experience. Great breakfast as well. The Boar's head is great place to stay, the staff are fantastic,the breakfast was of high standard,location was 3 miles outside harrogate which was okay,a very nice village ripley with the castle on the door step,we stay in the chinese room which had a nice big bed(2 single put together),no bath just a shower,will be going back in the summer.food is of high standard. This is a traditional country pub set in a tiny and cute village and next door to a castle. The staff were very helpful and the room comfortable. I had a meal in the pub and this was also very nice. I also made use of the free admission to the castle next door and this was a lovely morning. The village is unusual, quaint and lovely to walk around. The very friendly staff on reception were extremely knowledgable and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotless and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. As patrons of the hotel we were given complimentary tickets for the castle tour and access to the castle gardens and lake. Highly recommended. We had a very enjoyable comfotable stay... lovely location, close proximity to Harrogate, very pleasant helpful staff and excellent food. The free tickets to the castle were a bonus and it is well worth a visit. We would highly recommend the Boars Head and plan a return visit as a base to further explore the area. The Boar's Head ticked all the boxes for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this Hotel....and within 2 yrs time we'll be staying here again. Staff were outstanding, excellent facilities, beautiful room were the highlights. Location is a tourist spot also, especially located next door to a Castle!. A very good bus service that stops outside which goes to leeds, Harrogate and Leeds. Next to castle complementary entrance. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are a good size. Lovely tea-tray with fresh coffee, homemade biscuits. VERY polite and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful location. The Hotel itself - very good value for money with access to Ripley Castle & Gardens included. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Accommodation was comfortable and clean. Ideally located in quiet, attractive countryside within easy reach of Harrogate. Additional plus points for us were the excellent cuisine and the access to Ripley Castle grounds. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and service in the brasserie was excellent. Our waiter was most attentive as were the staff at breakfast. The room was lovely and so quiet. To have access to the castle was an unexpected and enjoyable bonus. The whole experience. We stayed in the hotel annex just across the road which quaint and full of character. A perfect stay. Lovely setting - great layout in courtyard - very good bus service to Harrogate and beyond - comfortable and big bed - chocolate boar and nice biscuits to munch on -good atmosphere in Bistro - nice food, particularly breakfast,. Evening meal and breakfast good including eggs and smoked salmon.All the staff were very efficient and helpful. The hotel was in a splendid village - Ripley. Ripley Castle was just round the corner and the village and it little shops too. Very convenient for Harrogate and Knaresborough but just off the main road and really quiet. The hotel is relaxing, staff very helpful and both dinner and breakfast superb. Nice room, a liitle old fashioned but this was totally in character for the hotel. All facilties fine up to standard and beds very comotable. The location of the hotel, in a very pretty village close to the castle was stunning. The room was excellent, a very comfy bed. Dinner was lovely and the breakfast was super. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere at the Bar's Head was wonderful, the setting and the old world charm completely deliver. This is made even more charming by the great staff who were keen to help and please. Breakfast was delicious!. We travel with a small dog. He was provided with his own basket, a towel and titbits. He was also welcome in the bar and lounges. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel, both meals were absolutely first class. A comfortable stay with easy access to a ground floor room. Only stayed one night bed and breakfast but would certainly stay at the Boars Head again. The few staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. Lovely welcome,good clean comfortable quiet, accommodation, good food and wine, lovely staff, affordable. I would recommend the Boars Head Ripley to other travelers. So much better than staying in Harrogate. The Hotel was ecellant, steeped in history and very atmospheric. The setting of Ripply Castle is peaceful and perfect for a weekend away. A tour of Ripley Castle is a must for those who enjoy their history. Liked the price of accommodation and the proximity to Ripley Castle. The price of staying also included passes to the Castle and grounds worth £9. Staff very friendly and professional - went the extra mile. Loved it all! Stayed in the wonderful Cayton Room. Perfect location for visiting the Dales, Harrogate and Ripon. Ripley Castle is worth a visit too. I'll definitely be back!. The setting was so rustic and olde worlde, very comforting. Chickens roaming around the village,horseriders riding through the village. A great atmosphere.Nostalgia !!!. I liked the room we stayed in. It was huge. Very clean. I have never seen a bed so big The breakfast was very nice the staff were very good. would i go back you bet. The friendly staff in all areas, the comfortable and well-appointed rooms,the cosy lounge and log fire. The Boar' Head is ideally located and the food is excellent. EVERYTHING! It was all first class and we loved it. A guided tour of the castle was also included which was brilliant! The garden and grounds were beautiful too!. The staff at Reception were so friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and had all we required. The visit to the castle and gardens was very enjoyable. Running a bath, the water is tinged brown! I rang down to reception to ask if this was normal and was informed that Ripley has it's own water supply hence the colour, but it's perfectly ok to bath in or drink. Other than the Boars Head and Ripley Castle tea room which is only open during the day, there is nowhere else to eat, but the food was really good so it's not really a negative. Not a long enough stay....will definetly be going back!. You can hear the floorboards creaking from upstairs in the ground floor courtyard rooms. Leaving and the weather but everyone in UK was cold when outside. Photography not being allowed in Castle, having said that some people with cameras are pains. Staying only one night. not alot to dislike,the shower maybe not the best could be improved. The room I was given had a bath and a shower head but not an actual shower. As such I was forced to wash my hair in a bath and then struggled to do a final rinse off with the shower head which I'm sure left the room covered in water... Sorry cant think of anything!!. I have no complaints but my husband thought that the portions sizes at dinner in the gastro pub could have been more substantial. nothing negative at all. The room was too hot. Waited a long time for our meal in the Bistro. The food was good but over priced for what was served. Vegetable accompaniments were too small. Having to leave a day earlier than planned due to a changed flight time!. nothing. Minor niggles - no bottled water in the bedroom and only one 'boar' chocolate in a double room........ Nothing. I honestly cannot think of anything. Evening meal menu could have had better choice on main menu. Nothing. All good!!. Nothing. Nothing springs to mind!. Only a short stay and have no adverse comments to make. I liked it all. Minor criticism is that it is in need of a bit of tlc with carpets in the brasserie and paintwork in the rooms. Nothing really - whole experience was lovely. The plastic shower curtain that when in use has a tendency to cling to you which is gross!. Nothing. The meals were a bit over priced but there was a shop across the road that did some food. Bedroom was too warm. Nothing. Cold shower in the morning despite running it for 10mins or so. Breakfast was not the best I'd ever received. Poached eggs hard, toast cold and re-heated. Dissapointing!!!. Evening dining in bistro reasonable -price and quality but not warrenting a second visit. Red wine too warm so lacking flavour. Nothing to dislike. Only stayed one night. nothin we didn't like. nothing. The bar staff were not particularly friendly. A choice of lighter meals in the bar would have been useful . I still felt hungry after my main course!.
