A full Scottish and continental breakfast are served each morning in the dining room, along with pancakes, lightly poached haddock and warm porridge.
The nightlife of George Street and shops of Princes Street are both within 10 minutes’ walk, and the Royal Botanical Gardens are a 5-minute bus ride away.

Walton was extremely functional and efficient in busy Edinburgh. Visitors intending to spend more time out of the room than in will find it fuss free, clean, and functional with a touch of comfort. The family room was great. Was in after the reception was closed and out before it opened. Had no problems. The location, being only a couple of miles from the city centre is a plus. The family room of 5! So few hotels have this facility. Car parking was available and staff were great with allowing us to leave it there even after we had checked out. Very friendly staff. Wonderful cooked breakfast.
The overall experience was fantastic! The breakfasts were delicious and
the room was lovely and warm, the staff were very helpful and welcoming,
overall I would definatly stop here again.
Staff were friendly and guesthouse was central for shopping/sight-seeing. Was pleasantly surprised with the choice on the breakfast menu and facilities in the room.
Compared to other places I stayed during the same trip, this was the
best and was value for money. Was allowed to use the parking lot even
after checkout.

Careful about street side parking. The wardens are out early.
My only negatives would be that there wasnt fresh bedding every day and
that whenever we wanted to use the toilet we had to full it with water
as it was out of order! Also it would have been great if the breakfast
was open a little longer as one of the days we missed out because we
didnt wake up until 9, which while you are on holiday you should have
the luxury of a lie-in.

Due to double parking in car park, asked to leave car key at reception. Remember to take all you want out of your car as nobody on reception past 9pm.
Pre arranged to drop case early in morning on arrival day but they don't open up till 9:30am anyway, so had to wait a bit.

I asked if they could get me a paper and they couldn't, not a major problem when i then found a newsagents up the road anyway. But they did say i could take the breakfast room paper with me if i wanted to.a bit slow serving with breakfast because it was crowded, yet ok., a very nice velcoming atmosphere.
