Located in Edinburgh's historic New Town and 15 minutes’ walk from the city centre, the family-run McCrae's Bed and Breakfast is a traditional 19th-century property with a mix of period and modern features. With its retained ornate cornicing, the B&B also features free Wi-Fi and en suite rooms. A flat-screen TV with DVD player is provided in each room at McCrae’s, along with tea/coffee making facilities. Guests can also enjoy a selection of DVDs available upon request. Some rooms have garden views and a double-sized shower. All rooms are at ground level, and bathrooms can be equipped to suit disabled guests. All towels and bed linen are made from Organic or Fairtrade cotton and all laundry and cleaning products that are used are environmentally friendly. A complimentary continental breakfast is served in the elegant dining room as part of the room rate, the organic ingredients are locally sourced where possible. A full Scottish breakfast is available at an additional price. A piano and small library of books are also featured in the room. The shopping district of Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle can both be reached in a 20-minute walk. Edinburgh Airport is only a 25-minute drive from the B&B.

Overall quality of the place was really high including most comfortable bed I have ever slept, so clean and big room).. John was at there when we need and he is very helpful, friendly and kind. After staying one day you feel like you are at home more than a hotel. Location is 15-20 mins to the center and 5 mins by bus which is really good. We walked all the time and it was no problem at all. There are nice restaurants to have your dinner 5 mins from the place. Great value for the money. I will.
kaikki arvostelut » Room was very nicely and comfortably furnished, inpeccably clean that it made me feel at home immediately. There were nearby bus stops but I had preferred to walk (about 15 minutes to Waverley Station). A large supermarket (Tesco) is 5 minutes away and so are a number of restaurants. I went on a day tour that set off early in the morning and John (the owner) gladly served breakfast earlier than usual for me, so that was great hospitality. If it were not fully booked, I'd have loved to stay at M. Excellent, just excellent! Great location on quiet street within 15 minute quick walk to the Edinburgh Waverley railway station and about 5-7 minutes to the York Place bus stop. Owner John is friendly and helpful. Room was large, clean and well organized. Bathroom fitments look bran-new. Comfortable bed with additional Scottish woolen blankets. Wonderful breakfast. Breakfast room wide and stylish decorated. Very good price for so nice conditions. John (owner) was very nice and friendly, with passion about everything. He tried to find solution for every request I had, and I felt that we were friends from the past :-) The breakfast was very nice (don't expect the variety of a 5 star hotel, but for me was excellent) with organic food and homemade cakes! Nice quite place, near the Edinburgh Castle (2 km, walking about 20 min) and few meters away from health food shops and vegetarian places. A cozy B&B with a friendly very helpful Irishman as owner. The triple room was big, with excellent bathroom facilities. Nice attention to detail such as the Scottish made woolen blankets, a good selection of books and the organic tea. Very quiet room and comfortable beds for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was simple but good ( we did not chose the optional Scottish breakfast though). We felt very welcome and at home at McCraes's. The owner was extremely nice and helpful, waiting for us on arrival at midnight to open the door and make sure everything was fine for us. He was also very helpful for advising us where to go and answering all our questions. The room was very clean, furniture was of quality and modern. Location was 20mn away from Royal Mile and in quiet area. John is a wonderful host. My brother and our wives went for a weekend to Edinburgh. We couldn't have been better looked after in this family B&B. We would certainly go again and would recommend to others. This was an excellent place to stay in a neighborhood full of good restaurants and within easy walking distance to central Edinburgh, bus and train. If we visit again we will definitely stay here again. Welcoming host; comfy beds and clean bathrooms; on quiet street; good location for a short walk to the sites in Edinburgh; several excellent restaurants and pubs within an 8-10 minute walk. You just cannot fault it. Very nice room and bathroom, very clean, quiet, private & with a friendly and helpful owner John. If you've made it this far just book it. Personal service and welcome. Owner noticed that the letsbookhotel.com rate was for 2 persons when I was a single traveller and reduced the rate without being asked. Owner very accomidating prior and during trip. Very comfortable beds. Bedroom very spaceius with high ceilings. Fantastic taxi service on very bussy weekend. Delightful accommodation, easy walking distance of city centre but quiet. Excellent breakfast, attentive and knowledgeable host. Very good value for money. Location, facilities, easy access to public transport and walking distance to town centre. The extra charge from the hotel because I paid with credit card (2%), plus the bank changes from my bank (conversion from GBP to Euros ) raised the total amount, and finally the price was complete different from the starting price that letsbookhotel.com in giving !. There were no negatives. B&B prices in Edinburgh! (Spoken from someone who's still living in the Dark Ages with prices of Youth Hostels in her mind from the '70's!). Nothing. nothing. it was all good. Only the fact that I could not stay longer!. An hour waiting under the rain on arrival, due to mistake of the owner, one man staff. No reception available. A bit of a walk to the city center if you have any older or young family members, but this is only a minor concern. No negatives. No issues. In the booking I was promissed a room with a garde view, which I didn't get, instead facing a, at times, busy road. Electric shower weak. Car parking tricky. Breakfast could be better. Skimpy continental breakfast.
