I was surprised how safe I felt. The place was warm, friendly and in a fine location. I had heard negative things about the area but felt ok while walking the streets. Easy walking to station and wonderful food nearby. Breakfast was A1 tops.
If you are looking for a cool place to stay, this is it. There is a bar
right outside the rooms where you can get free drinks and discounts as a
hotel guest. The area has plenty of bars, so there is always something

good Location in Central, close to the Main Train Station an Bars etc, friendly Staff, nice Bar with International Backpacker flair downstairs, clean, good Beds.
free wifi and welcome drink is a beer for every night you stay.
The reception counter is in the bar which is pretty cool.

Staff is very helpful and friendly, there is a bar in the ground floor
of the hostel, and they have live band every night so it's pretty
nice. And their price is cheap in Zurich.

Fun atmosphere encouraging to meet people and socialize.
The location was nice as was the free drink. You can rent a lock if you
need one (I did), and they accept both francs and euros. Lockers are
available so to leave your bags during the day.
everything in zurich is expensive, this hotel maybe count as not that expensive...not far from the train station, 15 min by foot.
The room and toilet were clean and they offered a free drink for us in the bar.
There was nothing about Langstars I could fault. I will recommend it to friends as the most economical place in Zurich. On my next visit I will certainly stay there again.
cant sleep with open window, to loud outside (if you sleep thin) try to get a bed to the backside.
The hostel is above the bar and music and party didnt stop at 5am in the morning and my bed was beside the window...
Like in every hostels, you don't go there for luxury!
Location is a bit special, Langstrasse being a 'cabaret' nightlife place, but you really get no problem while staying at the hostels.

the room, beds and lockers were old but still acceptable for the price, comparing to the other hotels and hostels in zurich.
Sometimes people can be noisy, and affect your sleeping.
bar is too noise, especially in weekends, music never stop until 4.30 am!.
The hostel is located a bit far away from the central station. You
better take the bus to get there. And there is no lift in the building,
and unfortunately I stay at the 4th floor.
The bunk beds (some) dont have a lot of room between then (like barely a meter between the bottom and top bed).
Rooms pokey, hot as n no fan n window only opened a few centimeters For
six beds it was so hot n crowded prob more suitable for max 4 bed n
lockers. Not much really but made the nights long n little sleep due to
discomfort.
Well, you have to deal with many people in one room, getting back too late and waking up too early, using a shower for an hour and smoking on the terrace ).

Didn't know the place is also a club and on saturday night
couldn't sleep till past 3am due to teenage party noises downstairs.
The rooms are not cleaned thoroughly, the balcony neither. Still spent
nearly 50chf x night for a small bed in a 12 bed dorm, too much...
Other than the usual hostel woes (drunk person turns on light and speaks
loudly waking everyone in the room up at 430 in the morning), the
sleeping bag we were supposed to use was in very poor shape, the one
tiny pillow was too hard. The 1:12 shower/toilet ratio placed strong
demands on my bladder. When I came to get my luggage back, the staff
couldn't find the one spare key they use for luggage retrieval and I
had to wait for about 20 minutes (luckily my train wasn't soon).
check in place is in a pub,right downstairs and that night there is a rock concert there, very noisy to sleep....hard to find a charge place for cellphone.
Very expensive for what you get, besides it was located in the noisiest street in Zurich. I would take another hostel next time.
