  We stayed at this hotek for two nights. And it was easy to walk there with our backpacks from Kyoto station. I google it then got the map from tourist information at the station and the staff just recomfirmed us how to get there. Only 15 min walk. Staff are very friendly and also allow us to leave our luggage there after check out. But didnt b - My sister and I stay for 8 nights and we loved the place. The staff is extremely helpful and nice (even if they have problems communicating in English), the fact that there is a common place with fridge and that you get tea and water for free and even croissants for breakfast, the cleanliness the rooms and how central the location is. We highly recommend this place for people who want to explore Kyoto and surroundings for a few days.

  The people who ran the place were so nice and helpful. They advised me where I should go, what I should do and even gave me a free ride back to the station at the end of my trip. The location is perfectly fine for kyoto as Kyoto works on a bus system not really metro. The family that owned the place were extremely nice and helpful (the husband dropped us off at the station when we checked out in his car) (the wife gave us tips and tricks, pointers where to go and which places to check out), the views are impressive, my boyfriend and I felt thoroughly relaxed staying at their guesthouse, on holiday away from the big city.   Oyama Guesthouse Kyoto is a hostel that is 5-star in customer service and cleanliness. Oyama san treated us like her family. She even accompanied us up to the railway platform to say goodbye to us which was very emotional for her and especially for us. We'll be keeping in touch with her. - Staff is really good !

There is zero security (no keys for any rooms, or main door) but that's part of the charm.
