  We had spotted the Terra Minoika through the commentaries in Booking and Tripadvisor as being one of the best hotels in Crete and having spent some days there during our latest tour of the island we can ourselves too definitely confirm this. We - We stayed in a lovely roomy studio apartment with a magnificent view over the village of Kato Zakros, which is nestled in a small bay. It was such a pleasure to wake up every day to such a beautiful view. Stella (the owner) was very helpful and friendly, giving us lots of information on local walks and lovely beaches to visit.   friendly, clean, we visited winter time but still very warm due air-condition. Owners very nice and friendly people.   The room was very rustic in appearance but was outfitted with all the modern features. The kitchenette is quite complete, so stocking food for a snack and/or a more robust breakfast is a good idea. Grounds were beautiful. A great place for a quiet and restful few days or week. NOT for the night-life crowd! As Yannis said in greeting us, "Welco... mitä ihmiset sanovat » me to the end of the world." There is nothing but nature, beach and a few tavernas at the beach. There are remains of a Minoan Palace, and they were - The welcome, which couldn't have been warmer, plus fresh oranges and lokwatts from their trees, cake made by Katerina's mum, and a constantly re-filled bottle of raki. Splendid local walks, lovely beaches, very friendly people. Yiannis' retreat is an absolute gem, perfect in every respect, from the immaculately-kept gardens to the spotlessly clean rooms, to the individual terraces with hammocks and deck chairs, the views of the sea.......I could go on!
