We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Buchan Hotel. It is small, quaint
and well kept. It's close proximity to Stanley Park was what
initially caught our eye and we weren't disappointed. The staff was
most accommodating...allowing us to check in early...(we had a very
tired child with us) It is exactly as advertised...it's not your high-
end, corporate hotel...so it suited us perfectly!! Some tranquility in

The main advantage of Riviera is location: right in the middle of Vancouver's beautiful downtown, 10 mins walk to Stanley park, 5 mins to waterfront, etc. Room are surprisingly spacious for a hotel and come with full kitchen (stove including). The hotel was old but modernized. Great entrance with the ivory color
theme. The bathroom was retiled, new fan, and matching floor. Despite I
ordered a single double room, I was not charged extra for my sister
staying with me. For the price of $79 before taxes, the room was a great
value. We were accessable to the Lagoon and the Outdoor Jazz
Festival...only 3 blocks away on Robson Street. What a great part of

We had the penthouse apartment. The space of having separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and the full kitchen and living room was fantastic for a family with 2 college-age kids + 1 5 year old. The staff was outstanding. When we arrived it was warm for Vancouver. We decided to cancel our reservation and get a room with A/C. The manager was very understanding and offered us a larger room with more windows for the same price.
We are so glad we stayed. The rooms are clean, and have everything we needed.

Sam at the front desk was wonderful! Smiling, calm and attentive. Upgraded us to a lovely, large room with plenty of windows. Admitted that parking was a challenge, and then found us a nice little spot on the grass. Kindly thought of restaurants we might like after asking our preferences. We never moved our car...walked to Stanley Park, all ends of the city, and finally at the restaurants close to the hotel. Lovely!

A beautiful heritage home that is lovingly decorated and cared for. You really feel like you are coming home at the end of the day, rather that walking into an impersonal hotel. The location has a really quiet neighbourhood feel, but is in the heart of downtown, so convenient to everything.
