My wife and I stayed at Ashton Gate with another couple and we were all very impressed. The house is a beautiful Victorian bungalow, filled with antique furniture and ornaments, in the Victorian style and set in a magnificent garden filled with flowers. Everything was well maintained, spacious, and very comfortable.
The cooked breakfast was ample and delicious, with homemade jams and lemon butter.
Our hostess, Jennifer, was welcoming and informative and nothing was too much trouble for her.

If you like old-world charm, you should like Ashton Gate. It's spacious, nicely decorated room, with large, clean modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast in dining room; use of comfortable sitting room any time, with tea, coffee, home-made biscuits and even a nightcap from a crystal decanter if you so wish. House is well lit at night - easy to find your way in. Jennifer's suggestions for places to dine were welcome. Thank you for a wonderful Tasmanian winter stay.
Beautifully appointed B&B, a real heritage experience with excellent attention to detail. Very comfortable, each room with its own theme respectfully based on the original house's past. Breakfast delicious with home made bread, yoghurt and lemon butter accompanied by the other staples sourced from local Farmers markets. Yum!.
I loved the character of this Victorian home. Jennifer, our hostess, was very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local attractions. The breakfast had home made bread and jams all delightfully presented in elegant surroundings. A charming experience!.
Jenny made us feel like old friends. The location was ideal - minutes by car to city centre, the steep hills of Launceston did not invite walking to city centre. Breakfasts were large, freshly prepared and tasted great.
Nice room, very old fashioned, but pristine
the guest house had a lot of history an character

Quiet, breakfast excellent, friendly staff.
Nothing.
The ensuite bathrooms were a bit small as you would expect.
Our room was next to front door and we heard people coming and going. The rollers on the door squeaked waking us when people entered and exited.
No adverse comments.
Having to leave.
Tiny flatscreen.
